I worked at CSU San Bernardino part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Simple job for a student that can be in an stress free environment who works directly with professors. Some professors can be more demanding while others are more lenient but depends on how many classes and number of students per class.

    Cons

The job is state funded so there are not enough hours available if assisting for one class only.

Not all staff at the student employment office is adequate of explaining basic information to students.

I have been working at CSU San Bernardino as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

I work as a student teacher. This place has given me the opportunity to follow my goals and gain employment while completing my master's degree.

    Cons

The may for this particular position is lower than a regular faculty. However, I understand that because I do not have my master's degree yet.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work! Make sure you provide professional development opportunities to employees.

I have been working at CSU San Bernardino as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Innovative people striving towards providing a better experience for their students. The Heating and Air Conditioning department has accomplished a lot to promote energy savings campus wide.

    Cons

Location is outside of San Bernardino on the way up the Cajon pass. The 215 freeway is one of the worst freeways in the world. Lots of dry heat.

I have been working at CSU San Bernardino full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Here education opens doors. The union contract provides for it and many managers support staff taking classes. Utilize the educational benefits to improve your opportunities either on or off campus.

Benefits are outstanding: low cost health insurance, many vacation days and sick days as well as great retirement.

There are a wide variety of social activities and job opportunities. Overall, the campus is a good place to work.

    Cons

Bureaucracy can be overwhelming. Job quality can be spotty due to bad managers, broken processes and political shenanigans. Things don't change quickly and can be done poorly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't always promote from within and educate managers to manage well. Mediocrity comes from lazy hiring practices.

I worked at CSU San Bernardino

    Pros

Good environment if you like school . Young at heart since you are always around different students. As any state or county job, you will like this environment if you do no like change.

    Cons

Sects, and groups, so when a sect is against for any reason you become a target and bullying , intimidation , etc is high. Older employees who don't like change want to get you out if you are ambitious . Therefore no room for growth as such.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open minded work, to great more opportunities and encourage growth.
