    Pros

Pay ranks high, at least for jobs in Florida. Training, people, Corp mission statement all seem great - in the beginning.

    Cons

Politics as usual. You are expected to take some sort of initiating abuse from some of the long time co-workers = peers. This perspective is in "Management" - Non-Union position. Depending on which Regional Team you're lucky or unlucky enough to be placed in. My experience was not good as management tolerated some employees to be unprofessional, rude, and even abusive to new employees trying to learn the antiquated computer systems. I had zero support during very stressful time. Phone calls were nonstop. Service failures were plentiful. Have nerves of steel, love call center and customer complaints, and thrive in politics and favoritism, then this is the dream job for you!

    Advice to Management

Stop allowing a few mean spirited aka well poisoners run the show and run good employees off. Be professional, do your job and stop the abuse and bullying. It should start at the top, with management and peers working together. You need some accountability for how Intermodal Operations is ran - and I'm NOT talking about management covering their own with lies and coercion!

    Pros

I worked for CSX for 4 years in several different roles pay is great but you work a lot and arent home that often.

    Cons

Work on Call and are away from family to much. Talk about living a healthy lifestyle but the job doesn't allow for this is the crazy scheduling.

    Advice to Management

I know safety is important but peoples happiness should be as well. At the end of the day we both have a job to do. So let people do it without messing with them.

    Pros

CSX will work you. Being a conductor is not extremely difficult, but you have to pay attention to detail. Pay is good overtime is almost a daily thing and the benefits are some of the best you can find today. Keep this in mind, the Railroad has been around for a hundred years, follow the rules and just show up on time and do as you are asked to do and CSX will put money in your pocket.

    Cons

It's a transportation company 24/7. If you work as a conductor or engineer you will live your life being on call. The shifts are 12 hours and sometimes you will work longer. The Railroad is not for people who can't grind out hours. Honestly I don't have any cons, I enjoy it. Some of the managers are not the best, they are supervisors and not leaders

    Advice to Management

    Develop leaderships skills.

    Pros

The pay is better than most these days

    Cons

You're just an employee ID number. Too many people given positions that require extensive railroad knowledge and yet they have absolutely none. For example, someone with a degree in accounting is hired as a Trainmaster, but this person has no prior transportation experience. The employees in the field would be the better candidates.

    Advice to Management

Promote from within and especially from within the same field.
