I have been working at CTDI

    Pros

Unique and stable business model . Major logistics (electronics) supplier for many major national and international telecom companies.

    Cons

    Most systems are not documented.
No time is dedicated to design or system architecture.
Major databases are not even 1ST normalised (by policy).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Knowledge needs to be a corporate asset.
The design process can capture that knowledge.

I have been working at CTDI full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    They do provide good benefits.

    Cons

This is a family run business and I do mean family RUN. If you aren't a Parsons, you already have 2 strikes against you. Senior management has no respect for IT. The infrastructure for such a large company is laughable. They see all IT employees as interchangeable and replaceable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to force yourselves into this century.

I have been working at CTDI full-time

    Pros

None that I can see. A paycheck? IT is seen as a problem and cost rather than solution frequently catching the blame for all the ills instead of on management as it should be.

    Cons

You may have seen from many other reviews this is a family owned and ran business. They seem to be a bunch of power crazed ego maniacs. They expect anything to be accomplished in a shorter time as long as they yell loud enough. This leads to frequently rushed and badly planned systems and processes. And then they wonder what went wrong. Mid management is too scared of losing their jobs so don't expect any support or backup when you need it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have some respect for your technology groups. You don't know everything just because your last name is Parson.
Back up your people instead of cowering in fear.

I worked at CTDI full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Salary is competitive for the area.

    Cons

Work availability was inconsistent due to logistical issues.
It seemed strange given the small workforce (20 or less) that management always had to ask who you were when dealing with you in person, especially given how frequently people were being layed off by name.

I have been working at CTDI

    Pros

Good work culture, employees are kind, upper management is poorly managed. Some of the people you meet will be very kind and supportive, however, that is not agreed upon amongst upper management who view their employees as negatively.

    Cons

The work you do here at CTDI is honestly not worth the pay. Although the actual people here are fine to work with, upper management is completely run by family members and do not recognize the all the work employees put in.

I have been working at CTDI full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The work is simple to pick up. The workers are eager and pleasant.

    Cons

There is little leadership, supervision, training, and no appreciation for the workers. They staff with temps who are not properly trained, but are held to very high expectations. For months we were told how well the branch was doing then found out the place was hemoraging cash when corporate stepped in. Half of the staff was terminated arbitrarily leaving the remaining folks in fear of their own termination. The corporate office sent senior management to conduct their annual physical inventory and thoroughly botched it simply by not planning and preparing or practicing the most basic protocols. They rarely promote people of color or women and when they do, fail to compensate employees for weeks. They cut costs through routine purges of associates. They staff with a temp agency which will literally hire anyone with a heartbeat if the prospect can pass a local background investigation, so CTDI can avoid paying benefits, holidays or sick time. No credentials are required. CTDI promises to permanently hire workers, but conveniently postpones it for various reasons and many have waited months, some up to years without a valid explanation. The company gave us Thanksgiving off without pay then had everyone come in on Sunday to make up for lost production time. CTDI isn't very efficient, well ordered, professional or profitable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating employees as dispensable resources rather than people. Train your staff and simply tell the truth.

I worked at CTDI (less than a year)

    Pros

Good learning experience as well as benefits.

    Cons

I was fortunate enough to work in a very diverse group which was very knowledgeable about the specific sector of the company. Unfortunately I was let go within six months, yet I was promised a full time offer at the start. The culture of the company was terrible due to the constant stress of layoffs and every family member is MGMT positions. I don't understand how this company can progress when this is the atmosphere the majority of employees face everyday.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't make promises you cant fulfill.
