I worked at CTDI for more than 3 years

    Pros

You get a paycheck every thursday

    Cons

Where to start. Let's see. No budget for IT. Antiquated hardware and software. No web filtering software. Still running Exchange 2003. Upper management has no idea of what you actually do within IT for the Company. Upper Management lies right to your face constantly. There are no annual reviews so your annual raise is quite small and sometimes non-existent. There is no helpdesk. All of IT is segregated so there is no communication whatsoever amongst the groups. There are over 50 sites worldwide with over 4000 users with 2 Network Admins, NO Windows Server Admins and 3 desktop Admins. CTDI lives and will eventually succumb to the results of the Daily P&L. Workforce reduction is constant (quarterly).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your head out of your keister and start recognizing the importance of IT.

I worked at CTDI as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

    Good Food at Epicurean Feast

    Cons

Managers do not know enough about what they are managing. The temps who are hired know more than the managers do. Managers take the credit instead of showing appreciation and giving credit where due. Bad bosses who exhibit hostility toward staff by not responding to questions posed, silence toward staff members greetings, moodiness, and inability to handle the pressure of their own positions without snapping out at staff showing displaced anger and aggression.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop just trying to fulfill affirmative action quotas when filling management positions and give employees good managers who are intelligent enough to know the subject matter of their positions.

I have been working at CTDI full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Moderate company located in Philadelphia sub urban with decent pay related to experience.
    Not much rigid rules.
    Provides very good health benefits.

    Cons

Lay offs go more often in this company at least you see once in a year.
Not so professional when coming to development model. They don't follow any particular development model like water fall model, agile development.
Things has to work here no matter if you write some crappy code. No one cares or reviews your code as every one is busy with their own stuff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please plan the financial budget properly to avoid any lay offs which happens more frequently.
I know software is not the core of company's business, but its better to give more professional touch to IT department that its now.
Health and wealth program is good. Please continue programs like this.

    I worked at CTDI

    Pros

This position gives you freedom to walk around, work independently and wear casual clothing. It's a very easy job that requires very little training.

    Cons

This position is highly boring and repetitive. It doesn't require any intelligent or creative problem solving. Basically, you are a robot for 8 hours a day.
