I have been working at CTS Corporation full-time

    Pros

You work there means you are unemployed, that's reptty much the pro!

    Cons

Worked in accounting/finance area. Management managed by fear. Extremely disorganized. My manager is extremely cocky, took no blame, no accountability, no interest in developing talent, he is extremely selfish, no career path monitoring. Senior Manager is a complete mess, extremely out of touch of the operation, and if you are putting out a sales numbers they didn't like, they will yell and scream over the phone and if they needed an ad-hoc report, they called you every 5 minutes to bother you and will not let you complete the request. If you want to learn, that's not the place!

    Advice to Management

    Get real!

I have been working at CTS Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Inexpensive cost of living in Elkhart, IN - home of corporate headquarters and Elkhart Automotive plant

    Cons

Rigid attitude toward work hours and work roles. Poor benefit package. The right words are in the benefit package list but the contents of each benefit are stingy.

    Advice to Management

Use best practices of other high rated employers. Consider flex time, reward creative thought, focus on retention of good employees with good pay and good benefits. Having hired good people, work harder to keep them and help them improve their skills by encouraging pursuit of CPE/CEU, on the job training, internal training to improve computer skills, communication skills and other professional attributes. Do not intimidate employees so that they are not interested in expending effort to improve the company.

    Advice to Management

Work together as a team instead of divided divisions. There are many talented professionals that are under utilized. Focus on improving communications

    Cons

Problems with fraud in the accounting area Disorganization Difficulty in HR in Moorpark. Lack of professionalism and HR background Company has lost so much business that they are non-functional Terrible environment Advancement of non-qualified people on the factory floor.

Cut and Run. If the Moorpark location can't make it, you are making them suffer as they go down the tubes. Just end it.

    Pros

Can be challenging and fun. A good place to work if you want to learn a lot about contact manufacturing in a hands-on way. Very fast-paced. Human resources tried their best to help.

    Cons

Certain members of lower level management were almost abusive towards employees. Extremely high turnover rate. People would go into Human Resources crying. The stressful nature of the industry combined with the utter lack of regard for employees made for a terrible working environment. There was a lot of hostility between departments due to finger-pointing and bad attitudes which made it very difficult to get anything done and led to a counter-productive atmosphere. Temps would quit the first day by lunch. More training and more clearly defined job functions would be beneficial.

    Advice to Management

    Treat employees better

    Pros

There aren't any, unless you are a senior manager on the gravy train

    Cons

Waiting to be ex'd or outsourced

    Advice to Management

Fire yourselves and hire engineers. The single strongest predictor of long term investment value is "the degree of innovation" present in a company. Look at companies like Dupont & GE......lack of innovation is in inverse relation with shareholder value as a long term investment (especially in "high tech" markets). Companies like CTS hamstring product development (especially in times like we are experiencing now) with singularly myopic focus on quarterly financial results. Conversely, The BEST companies to invest in are those, who, during the tough times, use their time developing world beating, best in class products. CTS has been "hollowed-out", several times over in the past few years because of management's gnat-like attention span.

  11. CTS management is out of touch with the daily operation of their company.

    Pros

CTS is close to my home, with the high price of gas, this is a great benefit. We always have plenty of work, which is good in this economy. I work with some great people.

    Cons

The CTS management have no interest in the daily activities of most of the employees. There are many improvements that need to be made and they just ignore many of the suggestions that are made but the people who actually do the work. A lot of time and money is wasted due to incompetence of some of the management.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time on the production floor (daily) to see how the operation actually runs. Interact with the employees, get to know them and their jobs. Listen to suggestions people have to improve things. Be willing to spend the money to improve the quality of life and work at CTS, this will improve efficiency and quality and eventually save the company money.
