Pros
cross functional teams use analytical approach. excellent new product development with on site design, program management, etc... Cutting edge technology
Cons
Union shop with lots of game playing.. not to bad after you get to know the teams and are accepted.
Advice to Senior Management
Work together as a team instead of divided divisions. There are many talented professionals that are under utilized. Focus on improving communications
Pros
fairly low pressure, not much overtime or weekends required.
Cons
Poor communication between management and engineering ranks. It's easy to tell who management favorites are - they get best equipment, assignments and perks. There is no room for advancement - Few management positions to start with and they are filled with long time employees. CTS does not like to spend money, so don't look for cutting edge technology.
Pros
The workers. Have a pension plan and 401K.
Cons
Constant downsizing. Moving jobs off shore.
So so benefits.
Pros
Compensation package is fairly competitive
Cons
Senior Management is incapable of focusing on the long term goals.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on growth.
Pros
Location in US, coworkers are pretty good. Challenging work for those who want to put forth the effort. Assistance with schooling.
Cons
Recent product recall on the brakes....quality of the brakes. Big hit to reputation of the product. As a supplier should be doing better
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate, communicate, communicate. People make the difference invest in them
Pros
good for freshers and not for experienced persons
Cons
middle mgmt is not doing good with the technical engineers
Advice to Senior Management
keep a eye on middle mgmt
Pros
Interesting Work
Work has good variety
Public company and good systems overall
Industry leader in some areas
Advancement better in corporate location
Cons
Problems with fraud in the accounting area
Disorganization
Difficulty in HR in Moorpark. Lack of professionalism and HR background
Company has lost so much business that they are non-functional
Terrible environment
Advancement of non-qualified people on the factory floor.
Advice to Senior Management
Cut and Run.
If the Moorpark location can't make it, you are making them suffer as they go down the tubes. Just end it.
Pros
Can be challenging and fun. A good place to work if you want to learn a lot about contact manufacturing in a hands-on way. Very fast-paced. Human resources tried their best to help.
Cons
Certain members of lower level management were almost abusive towards employees. Extremely high turnover rate. People would go into Human Resources crying. The stressful nature of the industry combined with the utter lack of regard for employees made for a terrible working environment. There was a lot of hostility between departments due to finger-pointing and bad attitudes which made it very difficult to get anything done and led to a counter-productive atmosphere. Temps would quit the first day by lunch. More training and more clearly defined job functions would be beneficial.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat employees better
Pros
fast paced work environment. compensation and benefits are good. leadership and managing is good. recognition and feedback issue is tricky. Work place is very professional. work can be very hectic depending on the product line u are working.lots of opportunities for business trvel if u like it.
Cons
products are not for everyday customers
Advice to Senior Management
encourage innovation
Pros
There aren't any, unless you are a senior manager on the gravy train
Cons
Waiting to be ex'd or outsourced
Advice to Senior Management
Fire yourselves and hire engineers. The single strongest predictor of long term investment value is "the degree of innovation" present in a company. Look at companies like Dupont & GE......lack of innovation is in inverse relation with shareholder value as a long term investment (especially in "high tech" markets). Companies like CTS hamstring product development (especially in times like we are experiencing now) with singularly myopic focus on quarterly financial results. Conversely, The BEST companies to invest in are those, who, during the tough times, use their time developing world beating, best in class products. CTS has been "hollowed-out", several times over in the past few years because of management's gnat-like attention span.
