I worked at CVR Associates full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Incentive program
    Somewhat flexible
    The office culture was "ok".

    Cons

    Some micromanaging supervisors
    Horrible parking options
    Cliques
The CEO and director can be unprofessional
The pay is insignificant compared to the requirements they want in an employee (e.g.education)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The Founder as well as the director need to learn more about the role and the duties of their employees, as oppose to making assumptions.

One of THE WORST work experiences I've ever had

    Former Employee - Supervisor
    Former Employee - Supervisor

I worked at CVR Associates full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

..... *crickets*..... oh wait !!! Other than a steady paycheck nothing else comes to mind. You even have to pay for your own parking, yay!

    Cons

Reminiscent of high school. You have to be well liked by certain people in upper level management in order to fly under the radar. Otherwise working there is a nightmare. Upper level management is oblivious. They make changes and decisions without involving supervisors or the actual people involved in the processes being changed. Change always increases the workload and is not efficient. Morale is at an all time low. Instead of dream crushing with retaliatory advisories, try doing more to team build and create a positive work environment. You would get more out of your employees with a little respect.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is so much room for improvement if only you would leave the "my way or the highway" attitudes at the door. Otherwise you will continue to lose valuable employees.

    Pros

Great trainer, great co-worker, comfortable work environment.

    Cons

Lack of communication from upper management, you are not judged for your work but more on if they like you, a lot of cliques, unprofessional management, low pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some training and stop promoting your friends.

    I worked at CVR Associates

    Pros

There are no pros for working for this company.

    Cons

The management is horrible. They promote people who are there friends not because they can do the job. They overload you with work. They write you up for being a minute late. They don't pay good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It takes every person there for the company to run so they should treat everybody the way they want to be treated.

Worst Place I Have Ever Worked

    Pros

Experience with Housing Choice Voucher Program; learn how to work with low income, high need households; not many nights/weekends required

    Cons

Toxic work environment; low morale; low pay; anti-union behavior from management; prime example of how the privatization of government services leads to the crapification of government services. CVR did all it could to squeeze every last dime out of us and its contract with the Chicago Housing Authority while doing a poor job at serving the needs of voucher clients.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Advice to the Chicago Housing Authority - end your contract with CVR and return these services in-house, where they belong. CVR's only objective is to make money. Therefore, they cut corners. CHA's objective should be to serve clients well. As a government entity, money-making is not part of the equation. Ana Vargas makes millions of dollars while some of her own employees qualify for government aid.

    Pros

The work in itself is not difficult
    work is enjoyable

    Cons

no overtime but expected to work more than an 8 hour shift because you are salary
unprofessional employees will tell you when an employee got fired and why
you clock in/but you are salary just so they will know when you arrived
the morale is very low and management could care less
everyone is looking for another job and they know it
The location is out in Suwanee,GA and half the staff lives on the other side of Atlanta

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more involved with your employees and get and understanding of what makes you successful is great employees

I have been working at CVR Associates

    Pros

    The work itself is satisfying.

    Cons

Management makes simple tasks difficult. Changes are made to duties without receiving input from the people that actually perform the job. They want degreed personnel but offer low compensation. There is very high turnover throughout the company, in every department. Everyone is afraid to speak up because of the fear of being fired. Morale is very low and no one seems to care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take time to actually listen to the 'worker bees' of the organization. Management should learn how to work smart and not hard.

Truly value your personnel instead of power.

    Pros

You learn about HUD regulations and every 2 weeks you get a paycheck and they put together a good Christmas party.

    Cons

The management is not to bright. They change the rules everyday. You got to do a lot of sucking up to get promoted. They underpay people and will make you work the jobs of two people and not compensate you. management is very petty they will try and discipline you for ridiculous things. Management runs together like a pack of wolves praying on people keeping up a lot of conflict in the office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Slavery was abolished years ago!!! Create real policy and procedure and follow them. Have a backbone don't let the CEO tell you what to do especially if you are breaking the law. Stop being a bunch of Drama Queens.

    Pros

Small office allows for collaboration among team members. Management attempts to make working with the company as pleasant as possible by occasionally providing lunch and throwing the annual holiday party. CEO has an open door policy.

    Cons

Several changes in management, high turnover, little opportunity for career growth and development, performance metrics used to determine incentives are shaky at best and undermine team effort, work is extremely mundane

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Transparency goes a long way. Annual feedback for employees is beneficial. Fair compensation is appreciated.

    I worked at CVR Associates

    Pros

    Co-workers are friendly.
Kitchen is fully stocked with plates, cups and spoons
    Birthday celebrations

    Cons

Zero communication between upper management and operations team.
Benefits package is sub-par. I believe that CVR is in a position to offer employees a better package but refuses to do so.
Applied to a Housing Specialist that would include traveling to various Housing Authorities to complete work when in fact it is just a call center environment. The monotony of the work is excruciating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase salary and include more hands on training.
    Invest more in employees
Clarify goals and objectives in a clear and concise manner .
