Pros
When bonus is made then the pay is actually very competitive to other retail jobs. Very fair schedule.
Cons
No support at all. Hostile team environment. Heavy work load.
Pros
If you enjoy working with customers, learning the basics of sales, and want a 20% discount on all items, 30% for CVS is the place to be.
Cons
It's very hard to move up. May take years to move from Cashier to Supervisor.
Advice to Senior Management
Management should not only make sure the job is being done, but you must also help your employees move ahead.
Pros
great location, nice people interesting business
Cons
disorganized management, IT decisions based on personal interests
Advice to Senior Management
cvs should learn caremark business (PBM), before making decisions
Pros
Co Workers are great people to work with. Great friendships. Place that really helps you see what type of career you want.
Cons
Very political, promotions more about who you know, and not correlated to performance. Average work week at minimum is 60 + hours. Low salary compared to the industry because all jobs are viewed as retail, when they are not. Many take ways, lost 1 weeks vacation to "align with the industry". Senior management appears clueless to the issues and low morale. Middle management afraid to let issues get to the right place to fix.
Advice to Senior Management
Start thinking about why people are leaving on their own. Conduct exit interviews to understand the issues and start talking to those in trenches to find out what is going on. Stop blaming outside forces and look at internal things to fix.
Pros
Opportunity for advancement is available to those who seek it.
Cons
CVS expects too much with very little resources given to each store. Limited hours make it hard for expected goals to be reached. Regardless if one store is twice as busy as the one across town, they both are allotted the same amount of hours for payroll.
Advice to Senior Management
Work inside a store for a few weeks to see the reality of hours allotted and work accomplished.
Pros
The computer system works well, and training is very inclusive. Also, they are always busy so the day goes by quickly.
Cons
They do not budget enough hours to technicians so it is constantly understaffed. Because of this the costumers get angry because of long wait times. Dealing with angry costumers all day long is a con.
Advice to Senior Management
I am not sure of my advice to management, if i was running a business, I too would want to find the cheapest laborers available. You get what you pay for.
Pros
well known company, established for many years
Cons
too many to list, not enough staffing, compromising patient safety
Pros
20-30% Discount
Flexible scheduling and hours
Decent professional growth and experience
Promotions from within (for the most part)
Cons
Lazy employees
Rude, disrespectful, selfish store managers and district managers
Rude, pushy customers
Horrible pay for the amount of work one does
Retail hours take away from personal life
Poor communication between management
Advice to Senior Management
Your employees are REAL people, so treat them with respect and you'll run a successful store. Give employees incentive to want to work hard. Most of all, stop being lazy! Everyone must work together as a TEAM. Communication must be improved, too. The problems with CVS occur because store managers and district managers put themselves on a pedestal and don't lead by example.
Pros
-small box
-can get help from other stores if they are over payroll
-benefits are good
-holiday pay for hourly associates
Cons
-70+hrs a week
-Constantly changing signs
- usually its just you and a cashier all day until the next shift arrives
-spend too much time in the pharmacy to complete jobs on the floor
Advice to Senior Management
-needs a major overhaul from the top down
-need to hire an experienced managers and not just kids out of college
Pros
flexible hours, interact with customers,24 hours convinience
Cons
Dont care if you have benefits, no career, high mgmt turnover,no structure, 2o cent raises
Advice to Senior Management
Need to care about employees!
