Pros
Excellent advancement opportunities, although you have to push to get them. If you enjoy conflict resolution and management, this is the company for you.
Cons
Raises are hard to come by so you need to badger your boss for that. Sometimes the store comes before advancement.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more committed to the advancement program. Know that most people want to move forward within the company and they need to be given every opportunity to do so.
Pros
Some of the best colleagues, customers, and managers around. Overall great working environment where a person can have fun and be at work at the same time.
Cons
Lack of upper-management's view of store level tasks. Reduction of hours over the past few years and the same expectations still apply as to what tasks need to get done day-to-day.
Pros
This company does offer a decent benefits package, longer than average paid vacation, prescription benefits, and up to 5% company match on a 401 K. Also, they have some great employee web sites and resources.
Cons
Too much workload. Employees are expected to complete so many things in a day that many times customer service suffers. Also, its a rare day when you go home feeling like you accomplished all you were supposed to.
Advice to Senior Management
Give the stores more employee hours to budget with. Your employees will be less overworked and probably friendlier to customers.
Pros
great customer service experience
learned a lot about photos
management was helpful
flexible work schedule
easy to get time off
Cons
pay (minimum wage)
Hours- late nights
co-workers- a lot of high school students who will literally just walk out in the middle of their shifts leaving you to work two positions in one night
Advice to Senior Management
Stop hiring so many high school students, or raise your standards on who you hire. Also, pay better especially your hard workers.
Pros
If you work 8 hours you get three breaks. Full time gets great benefits. Really Flexible schedule.
Cons
Can sometimes be a pain to be in retail but as you progress it gets easier.
Pros
The company is doing well so there is job security. They have good technology- computer systems, etc. Overall friendly working environment within the stores.
Cons
The pharmacies are more like prescription factories. It is very difficult to fill more than 600 scripts per day while the amount of help is always being reduced and new tasks are always being added.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be helpful if management was more in touch with the challenges that the pharmacies face instead of just looking at budgets and hours and other pieces of paper from their offices. Real pharmacies are full of crowds, constant interruptions, ringing phones, drive-thrus, and not enough help.
Pros
Excellent Store Management. Solid training program for new employees when implemented correctly. Good benefits and pay. Promotion opportunities within the store level.
Cons
Lacking upper-management. Skeleton payroll budgets. Unattainable expectations with resources given. Appears to solely be focusing on the health-care aspect of Caremark, not the retail sector.
Advice to Senior Management
Change the corporate culture of the company. Appreciation for employees only goes as far as the store level. Very rarely does praise come from middle and upper management. Reduce employee turnover by actually supplying your employees with a reason to succeed.
Pros
Nice company to work for, lots of roles to transition in within the company. Work life balance is a plus with this company. Especially for all the mothers out there.
Cons
There is no career path for Sales dept. There is no support in career advancement with the company, in sales department. You will be a lone ranger. However other departments are not made up this way within the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Create a career path for your sales department. Be consistant with monthly awards for your inside sales reps. Be open to new ideas that come from the reps, after all we are doing the job!
Pros
The environment within the employees workign together is great. The management where I work at is awesome.
Cons
The special cases of customers and the belief that the customer's is always right is a let down.
It should be satisfactory service provided with respect to both parties.
Pros
I recommend working at CVS if you don't have any other alternatives
flexibility and cooperation in working hours
employee discount card
Cons
Poor Sneaky Management
poor working environment
lack of leadership
bad management behavior
bad culture between employees and management managers trying to encourage un-honest competition between employees so the work will be done!
no training!
lots of workload
low payment comparing to other companies
cutting hours and costs
employees transfer to far stores from their residences
Advice to Senior Management
use proper practices in hiring, firing, promotions, performance appraisals and treating employees.
use good communication to implement good culture
Motivate qualified employees instead of trying to knock them out the whole CVS because they are qualified as future leadership !
Retraining good employees will never be against cutting costs!
