Pros
Its nice hours for me, easy job
Cons
Too many kids wreaking havic on the place
Pros
You learn how to multi-task and work at a fast pace. For the most part, you work long hours but if you are cool with your pharmacy manager, you'll enjoy working there.
Cons
Very profit-oriented, long busy hours, too many goals to meet in a short period of time, customer service is robotic.
Advice to Senior Management
Create a patient-friendly environment where the patient can feel very welcome to come into the store. Respect for co-workers is important.
Pros
pay is not bad, good place to meet new friends.
Cons
hard to deal with customers on a daily basis.
Pros
The *only* reason I could *possibly* recommend working at this company (at least as a Pharmacy Technician and/or Sales Associate as I did) is for the health benefits. Even the Pharmacy Technicians I know working at hospitals preferred the insurance from CVS/pharmacy.
Cons
The pay is absolutely terrible. No matter how good you do and how long you work there, the regional management has been given orders from on high to make sure nobody starts out at a decent wage and that they can't get a decent raise either. Every yearly review I would be judged on things that didn't apply to me (such as doing the weekly order) that applied either only to the Lead Technician and/or the Inventory Manager.
I would endlessly (every single time I saw the man) ask the Regional Pharmacy Manager if he would give a raise with taking the added on job of being the Inventory Manager. He outright said no after the third time and the end result is that all of us had to do that person's job. This resulted in something being wrong on the order every week as the way it's done is meant for one person to keep track of the inventory levels.
There is absolutely *no* room for advancement and/or promotion at this company. In fact, they're continually laying off more and more people. They're also taking those tasks and forcing it upon the remaining staff while expecting them to work at full capacity. They also keep cutting the number of hours for every store every quarterly review. The lucky ones don't get cut, but absolutely *nobody* I've talked to got a raise.
Advice to Senior Management
Things to stop: Cutting hours; cheating people out of raises and a proper starting pay; laying people off and finding excuses to get rid of people; hoisting more and more responsibilities on to your already overburdened staff.
Things to start: Add a reasonable number of hours to each store so they can get the proper job done (you can't expect more money out of the same dollar at this point); when you hire somebody, hire them at a reasonable rate (At least if you want a decent employee who isn't gonna just leave as soon as they can for a better paying job at McDonald's.); rate people at their annual review only upon their actual daily tasks and give people decent raises as to keep a competitive salary.
Pros
Interesting, valuable work. I am proud of the work I do, being able to help others is fulfilling. The people that work for the company are fantastic.
Cons
Better pay would be a good start. Similar company, same job in the area pays $4 more an hour to start, which is very discouraging. More opportunities for advancement without having to move out of state would be much better for me too.
Pros
you learn about retail experience
Cons
working like a slave and not being appreciated by the company or custumers
Advice to Senior Management
treat your employees right
Pros
My store manager is great and we did have good health coverage.
Cons
No salary reviews or increases in the last 4 years. DM wouldn't even discuss it with the store manager.
Advice to Senior Management
pick your ass up off your comfy leather chair and come to work in a store for a week. you will never get the work done in the alloted hours. yet you treat your hard working employees (the backbone of your company) like lowlife workhorses and pay poverty wages.
Pros
1. Paycheck
2. 20/30% discount in the retail stores
3. No issues getting most tools that I need for my job (headset, computer, office setup, etc).
4. Really nice fitness center IF you are located on the Shea campus
Cons
This company seems to be built upon the silos from multiple acquisitions, and little to no thought seems to have been part of the process to integrate systems or all these multiple mergers. Job duplications. Sr leaders building their kingdoms. For MedD, they have a 1 star rating with CMS (as bad as you can have). The senior leaders seem to make decisions without weighing alternatives. IT support is horrible, with multiple support requests having to be created for multiple departments, & you have to chase them down to get them complete. I even overhead one of the managers telling her employees that a specific person (by name) wasn't hired due to not passing the background check. Thi is by far one of the worst companies that I've ever worked for. I feel for the customers that are caught up with the various system, and do not plan to be here long.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve the communication flow. When you are making decisions that impact our customers, be more open and honest in communications. Depending on the group you are in, you hear different messages. That creates a lot of confusion for employees. Make sure that you leverage system "experts" in key technical decisions. OPEN and HONEST communications without thought to building kingdoms
Pros
Decent health benefits and employee discounts. Generally a decent atmosphere to work in. It all comes down to who the store manager and district manager are.
Cons
District Managers and up are afraid to hold pharmacists accountable for their work for fear that they will leave. Double standards front store vs RX. Even double standards within the districts. Different store managers are held to different standards. HIPAA and OSHA violations run rampant within the stores. Also the same merchandise every year during the different holidays.
Advice to Senior Management
Make store standards the same, hold people to those standards. Don't over buy ASTV items. IE: Zuzu, Snuggies, Pillow Pets!
Pros
Prescription coverage, dental, vision free minute clinic
Cons
Chews you up and spits you out
Advice to Senior Management
Stop promoting pharmacist with no retail experience what so ever
