Worst Company I have ever worked for

Current Employee - Cashier  in  Orlando, FL
Current Employee - Cashier in Orlando, FL

    Pros

The people at my immediate store are great people.

    Cons

The "full time" employees get about 33 hours a week. The customer service is terrible considering two employees are all there is at each store. The CVSs in my area get held up approximately once every 4 months, and you will be terminated if you are robbed and your cash drawer contains over 300 dollars.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    1. Update your rewards system. The process of filling out a sheet of paper no longer exists anywhere else. People fill out paperwork and hold up the line and get angry when CVS loses their info (which happens often.
    2. Hire additional employees to keep the stores clean, offer customer service, and hang tags and marketing materials on time. Signs are never completed due to understaffing. If the signs were hung, we would make up the difference.
    3. Update the store's front end. The store I work for is very worn out. It's registers are almost 15 years old (from Eckerd) and they have a lot of glitches. The photo lab is out of order most of the time.
    4. Pay more. Your employees loathe you. The morale is astonishingly low, and in the year I have worked here, horrible steps have been taken to cut costs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

STOP CUTTING HOURS and maybe you'll keep new managers more than a year at a time ;) and also this new benefits thing .. ew

Former Employee - Pharmacy Technician in Orlando, FL

    Pros

It all depends on the pharmacist you work with. Hours can be flexible. Coworkers very nice. Enjoyed the working environment. Always busy. One of the busiest stores in the area.

    Cons

Customers not always nice. Insurance is confusing and overwhelming at first. Some pharmacists are very difficult. Hourly pay is too low for the amount of work being performed!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your techs what they are worth! Especially if they are there for years!

Former Employee - Assistant Manager in Orlando, FL

    Pros

Decent starting salary for the retail market. Shifts could potentially be decent, depending on who is running your area.

    Cons

Opportunities to advance are based only on where you are. No structure in South Orlando area by DM and management. Horrible delivery system with no help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be honest about hours and opportunities to advance before trying to recruit quality experienced managers.

Former Employee - CVS Pharmacy Intern  in  Orlando, FL
Former Employee - CVS Pharmacy Intern in Orlando, FL

    Pros

CVS is busy, so you never get bored. The work environment completely depends on your coworkers and especially the pharmacy manager.

    Cons

CVS is very much about numbers. You must complete a certain number of phone calls and document everything, and you are always expected to have better and better numbers. There isn't much time for one-on-one patient care.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people who like working with people. Otherwise you end up with pharmacists who like to hide behind the counter and have terrible attitudes about their store.

Former Employee - Staff Pharmacist  in  Orlando, FL
Former Employee - Staff Pharmacist in Orlando, FL

    Pros

    Good pay/benefits
    No cost for CE's

    Cons

    1. Not enough tech hours (they add more and more programs that must be accomplished throughout the day, without giving you the extra manpower to get it all done)
    2. Not enough time to do proper patient consults
    3. Company states they care about customers, yet all programs implemented are in place to increase the bottom line, not customer care
    4. Do not feel valued as an employee by immediate supervisor

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Screen and hire your district supervisors more carefully to eliminate the bullies.
Make your employees feel more valued (example: it is hard to feel valued with various pay cutbacks and decreasing incentives when CVS is a major sponsor for Extreme Makeover... what about your employees?)

Current Employee - Supervisor in Orlando, FL

    Pros

They were flexible with my schedule while in school. It is easy to relocate and transfer with the same position.

    Cons

While the store managers do a fraction of the work, they make triple the pay. Man hours are very limited for amount of work needed to be completed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work a week in store, then set expectations.
