I worked at CVS Health part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I can't think of any pros. I did not have a good experience.

    Cons

The manager was not managing as much as flirting with me and customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I believe that other CVS stores are professional and put together the way they should be, but this store if not under proper management. I felt like I only got the job due to my looks and the fact that I am single with a mixed race son. It made me uncomfortable and I ended up quiting because of it and of course telling them I quit because of transportation, not my comfort level.

    Pharmacy Tech Trainee/ PSA

I worked at CVS Health part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I worked part-time as a Pharmacy Tech Trainee during the summer between school years in college. It took a long time to complete the hiring process as there is a ton of paperwork, but once you start they schedule you for shifts (mostly PT). My store manager was very nice and easy to get along with, but the pharmacist was new at the time and was not interested in being friendly to the PSAs. The job is good if you are looking for experience specifically in pharmacy, and you definitely get an idea of what your future job would look like.

    Cons

There were a lot of times that I felt that the job was very hectic or stressful, as you were expected to complete 3 or 4 tasks at once, and maintain accuracy (such as dispensing medication..) while also doing other tasks. It puts a lot of pressure on the PSAs and likely leads to a lot of errors in dispencing of medications to patients which is dangerous. The pay rate is also lower than other competitor pharmacies in the area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The compensation for the position is considerably lower than competitor's, and CVS has their Pharmacy Techs do a lot more of the work than other stores (for example, Walgreens and Target). The pressure to get everything done as fast as possible compromises accuracy and can have a severe effect if the patient is given the wrong medication due to an error from rushing. The pharmacist should also take more of an active role, and not just rely on the PSAs to fill prescriptions and the pharmacist checks that the pills look right...a lot of errors could be avoided if the pharmacist were available to supervise the PSAs if we had any questions, and also patients who come to pick up their medications usually prefer the pharmacist to handle the transaction, as they can explain to them the directions as to how to take the medication.
