I worked at CVS Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My first job out of college was at the CVS corporate office. It was a fantastic opportunity that I will never regret taking, however it still wasn't enough to keep me there for more than 2 years. I learned more about business, entrepreneurship, and innovation than I ever imagined from a corporate setting. The ideas are big and they make them happen. The networking opportunities were endless. And you were surrounded by brilliant and engaging people every day. Lastly, having this Fortune 12 company on your resume for a few years will always get you noticed out of the pile.

    Cons

A normal week consisted of coming in early and staying late each day, and then taking your computer home and working some more until you fell asleep. Lunch was eaten at your desk because god forbid you were ever disconnected for more than 20 minutes. The churn is high, and not just for mid-level employees, but for leadership as well. In two years I went through 3 bosses and lost 6 different team members. This made it difficult to ever make progress as you had to start over with someone new every few months. I also experienced many people being "let go" if they didn't live up to the expectation. A lot is expected of you and you have to deliver. The health insurance was really disappointing, especially for a "health care" company. There is opportunity here but it comes at a pretty high cost of no work/life balance, constant stress, high churn and bad benefits.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to offset the high burnout and turnover. Employees don't mind working extra hard to deliver the results you expect, but they need to be compensated, rewarded, or recognized to avoid there being a whole new team of people in place every few years.

I have been working at CVS Health full-time

    Pros

Neighborhood store with many regulars and staff the usually consists of local community people.

    Cons

It's just an awful company that cuts every penny from their employees but then tells us it's not worth checking a price for a customer just change it for them because it may cause a line and besides it only a couple bucks. Then during your yearly review you got a nice 2.5% raise coming to save on expenses. Every company tries to save money CVS just does it to a different level.

    Advice to Management

Get in touch with your staff, stop announcing visits and surprise stores to get an actual idea of what the store is like.
