    Pros

    Outdoor products if the shelves are even stocked

    Cons

    Weak, vindictive Sr Mgmt, don't know if you're going to be the next "reorganization" victim, clueless Mgr's and leads.

    Advice to Management

    Fire Thomas L Millner before he drives the company off a cliff, Sportsmans Wearhouse was managed better before they went belly up. Oh and fire the Planogram idiots, they create 20x's more work than they're worth.

    Pros

    Fun & enthusiastic environment. Great opportunities for pay & vacation in management. You have to be willing to move to another store though.

    Cons

    Can't work more than 28hrs per week unless you're FT. Scheduling problems. Management don't really listen to outfitters. Not great pay for the stress of working with ATF compliance.

    Advice to Management

    Make sure there is coverage on busy days. Be there when needed. Listen & respond to problems that employees bring to you.

    I have been working at Cabela's (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Very friendly and supportive environment. The customers are wonderful and it's a true pleasure to work with and sell products that I enjoy using myself.

    Cons

    It's a retail store so obviously you have to work nights, weekends and holidays and it is susceptible to the whims of the seasons. If sales are slow, part-time hours are cut back and the full-timers then have to pick up the slack.

    No Micro management Positive Culture Discount and lots of freebies based on performance

    Cons

    Long hours if you have any personal standards H.R. Runs the company Immediate "Write up's", rather than Seek to understand conversations. High Turnover Liberal standards for hourly outfitters vs Restrictive standards for managers Extremely operationally inefficient from the top down, that never get addressed

    Advice to Management

    Clean up operational inefficiencies to acquire the money to build new stores rather than slashing payroll in existing stores.

    Pros

    I like the small town and the fact that it is an easy place to work. If they would heat things up a bit and make people accountable many people would not know how to react.

    Cons

    We need to figure out who we are before Bass Pro eats us up. Are we a destination ? With superior products? Then we need to figure that out. Leadership in apparel is lacking. Cabelas branded product are lacking real branding.

    Advice to Management

    Figure out your direction, communicate it clearly and lets march forward.

    Pros

    Everybody worked together and as a result the customers were taken care of.

    Its hard to move up. People tend to get into a good position and keep it

    Allow full time people to have a set schedule so they can get a second job.

    Pros

    Comfortable small town atmosphere, casual work environment

    Cons

    Lack of local talent and difficulty drawing in remote talent to a small town leads to challenges with middle management competencies. This creates a situation where skilled workers are promoted into leadership roles they are unprepared/unsuited for, often simply through attrition.

    Advice to Management

    Embrace remote and flex workers! Cabela's has a great opportunity to expand it's workforce with skills knowledge workers by simply allowing Outfitters to work from locations other than Sidney.

    I worked at Cabela's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Discount is great, if you're lucky so are the people. That's about it. Work elsewhere.. Blah blah blah blah blah

    Cons

    Somebody is always out to get you. Management is clueless and senior management is just as bad. Senior management is absolutely retarted. Pardon me but wow. And pay is not good. Above minimum wage but not good enough to live. 9.50 starting for most positions. 20 cent annual raises sucks too.

    Advice to Management

    Get a clue. All of you.
