I worked at Cable & Wireless Worldwide as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very professional looking. Co-workers seem to have a good personality and work well together. Very clean environment, almost sterile. Open floor plan to encourage a collaborative work style.

    Cons

To corporate structured. More appearance oriented than actual work done. Too much money spent on the company appearance and no money spent on actual technology. Decisions seem to be centered around promoting the company instead of what they are selling. I didn't know who our clients truly were until my last week there when I met a customer of the company. The customer mentioned the nickname of the company was "Cable & Worthless".

    Advice to Management

You hired professionals, so let the professionals do their work and limit the micro-management. Focus on technology and deliverables instead of company appearance. Company appearance with improve with the improvement of the technology in customer's hands.

    Pros

Good working culture Good employee policies

    Cons

Very less salary. You don't get paid for the hard work and effort you put in. Dirty politics in this company. To get hike promotion or IJP it's next to impossible. Senior management never care about the employees.

    Advice to Management

Please try to increase the ctc of people who deserve it. Try to end the dirty, regional based politics in the company. After all we all belong to India first and not a particular state.

I worked at Cable & Wireless Worldwide full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very Good History. Commendable Belief in getting things done. Very good working environment.

    Cons

Careless investment and lack on long vision. Good talent of the employee goes waste if he is not stylish and do not know how to hangout with Senior Management.

    Advice to Management

First most advice is to review your HR policy. Remember, when you (specially C&W) make one satisfied Employee, you make 10 unsatisfied employees. I have seen for five years that Management is crying for attrition, but Senior Management has not done anything solid to stop that. Secondly, I have seen in Change of Management in UK in 2005 (when they took Energis) and CW grew up, And again 2010-11, change in both India and UK Management, when the graph went down. Just think about it. Something is missing somewhere !!!!!!
