    I worked at Cable & Wireless Worldwide as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    Very professional looking. Co-workers seem to have a good personality and work well together. Very clean environment, almost sterile. Open floor plan to encourage a collaborative work style.

    Cons

    To corporate structured. More appearance oriented than actual work done. Too much money spent on the company appearance and no money spent on actual technology. Decisions seem to be centered around promoting the company instead of what they are selling. I didn't know who our clients truly were until my last week there when I met a customer of the company. The customer mentioned the nickname of the company was "Cable & Worthless".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You hired professionals, so let the professionals do their work and limit the micro-management. Focus on technology and deliverables instead of company appearance. Company appearance with improve with the improvement of the technology in customer's hands.

    Pros

    Exposure to new and emerging technologies. Vendor specific training

    Cons

    Too much is expected from individuals, it's a do more with less culture. Therefore quality of work output is not up to standard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Provide more training. Proper definition of roles needed as current roles are too cross functional not allowing staff to perform at their maximum potential.

    - Very "global" way of working
    - Competitive pay
    - Small size encourages entrepeneurial spirit

    - USA is very small in size, so limited advancement opportunities
    - UK based organization makes it hard to feel "connected" to home office
    - Limited global product set - makes selling in to US accounts difficult

    Communication sector is a good sector to work for and the company has a nimble footed management

    Cons

    The company makes frequent changes to executive management and as a result strategies do not get implemented. The company has very poor HR policies and practices. The company treats employees very poorly and does not present equal opportunities for all. The company does not listen to any third party opinion thereby taking wrong decisions
