I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

4x10 Schedule with 3 days off in a row.

    Cons

Crazy hours. Management knows nothing. We get cursed out and yell at all day by stupid customers who can't count or turn a cable box on or off without their hand being held and a gold star. They have no respect for their staff and do not value what we do. Their E3 quality team is complete bullcrap! It's all a set up. We are doormats.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn EVERYTHING needed to call yourself a manger or supervisor, don't refer every issue to the Field Comm. reading or KDB, believe me, it doesn't know everything which is why we need your help. Train the leads better and follow up with constant issues. Make the sups and managers get on the phone for at least 1 hour a week in the regular cue so they can know what we go through and so they can REALLY know their stuff at the drop of a dime. My supervisor knows nothing and brushes everything off because he hasn't been on the phones since before the the company had OV & IO service. Get rid of the E3 quality team and give that responsibility to the supervisors or managers- they don't do anything all day anyway but go have buddy buddy meetings and smoke their hookas in locked training rooms.

    Pros

    The pay and good benefits

    Cons

No life, no time for family and friends. The company wants to literally own you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get better shift opportunities. Especially the workers who actually studied computers that do technical support.

    Pros

The cable benefit is great, and the rest of the benefit offerings are good. Starting salaries are competitive.

    Cons

The work life balance is very poor. The workload is unmanageable and there is a lot of favoritism and social promotions. It's a shame because it used to be a wonderful place to work, but over the last two years, it's become miserable.

    Pros

Great benefits. Medical, Dental, Vision, generous sick and vacation time, free cable if you live in the footprint, tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 a year, 401K, a Christmas bonus and access to Bethpage Credit Union

    Cons

Very hard to get promoted or move up in this company. YOU MUST KNOW SOMEONE, sleep with someone, be related to someone or blackmail someone to enjoy any sort of advancement. HR is a joke, the employees call it the department that hates humans. Nothing is confidential...ever. If you make a complaint, go on FMLA or have any sort of interaction with HR, everyone knows within 48 hours. Management likes to keep their employees in fear of their jobs by constantly threatening lay offs or reminding people they are lucky to have a job. There is no employee development. Even tuition reimbursement is a joke. You submit for it with all the proper paper work and there is a 50% chance you will not get paid, your paperwork magically gets lost half a dozen times. If you try to speak up for yourself, you will feel the wrath of retaliation. It is not uncommon for lies to be placed in employees files by "human resources". There is no incentive to improve your performance or perform at a high level. You will not be awarded with a promotion, you will not get a raise; your yearly raise is manipulated to keep you at an average performance level. That is nothing compared to your co workers harassing you because you are doing a better job than them. The yearly review is a joke. Management is encouraged to manipulate everyone's review and keep them in the average range. NO matter how many times you make and exceed your numbers, work late, come in early, there will always be a reason to keep you at an average performance. Management does not care about your work life balance. They will however be annoyed when you contact them on off hours. Quote "the building better be on fire" Your schedule will constantly change at the drop of a dime. If you have children, make sure you have a good support system for childcare. You will work weekends and nights and that will always be changing. You will be pitted against your co workers for better schedules, hunger games style. I have observed sexual harassment, HR deemed the complaining woman was found to be "lying". Even though there were many witnesses to the harassment. Years later the predator is still working in a supervisory role while the victim has long been laid off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I wish you would be more empathetic to your employees. You should give hard workers a chance to be promoted and stop handing jobs to your friends. You should read and practice the company values. They are there for you too. It isn't just wallpaper. I feel the CEO and his father want to have a better company and experience for employees but there is too many bad apples mocking it up. I think they need to get a fresher management team all the way up to executive VP level, all these people have been in power for 20+ years. They band together and protect each other. They are hurting the employees and customers while they pocket 6 figure salaries.

I worked at Cablevision Systems full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

There are no good reasons at all. Good pay and free food once in a blue moon.

    Cons

Supervisors don't have your back. Either they were wrong or mistaken, they don't admit to their faults. Instead, they blame it on you. They would do anything but taking responsibility when it comes to things that make them look stupid in front of the big shots. They micromanage you like wouldn't even believe. One-on-one meetings are completely useless because no matter how much you try, you are not acknowledged. Your supervisor will pick through every single thing that you did right or wrong. Even if it was something that she/he told you to do or say, you're still wrong, it's still not good enough. You are nothing but a number. If you get a written warning on something, that's it. They're on you. Not to help you improve but to find what else did you do wrong. You'll notice a bunch of suck ups and you'll know why. The money may be good but it's not worth the aggravation and bring put down all the time. Hours are not flexible. Based on a bid. They determine this by your numbers. Punctuality is a must. One minute late gets you a warning. No matter where your cubical is, it's either too hot or too cold. Bringing a jacket in during hot summer months is a must. You would see some of the managers there and think, how the heck that they're running this place the way that they are.

Great that you get free cable

    Cons

Micro managed; no room for growth. Coworker blew whistle on manager and got fired 6 months later -- then the entire department was called in by HR and questioned. We had no idea what was going on. From top management to sales support, it is a culture of kill or be killed.

    Pros

you get to work with some nice people.

    Cons

Management is not trained in product knowledge. NEW OUTBOUND SALES MANAGER DAN F. is a micromanaging office dweller, that terminates peoples employment with no regard for facts. constant negative feed back, if you do not make your sales 3 mos. out of twelve mos. he fires you. extremely tedious work, extremely repetitive work,. Money was good because im very good at sales but management does not reward. there idea of a good job is 12 dollars per hour and you get to sit 8 hours in a cubicle and pound phones. bad for the back and the waistline. very unhealthy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

start caring for your sales force and do not lead by fear but by earned respect.
