I have been working at Cabot Oil & Gas full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome 401k and the stock option bonuses out is really.

    Cons

Overall good place to work but it's the only place I've worked where CYA is a really big deal. The higher-ups are all for the companies best interest, not the employees. Theres a lot of "perks" if your higher in the food chain also. The field workers get no respect when there the driving force of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the respect to the field workers and make an effort to raise there moral. Without them, you would not be in the position your in.

Amazing that this company does well with practically no leadership which says alot about SOME of the employees

I have been working at Cabot Oil & Gas full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

nice people, salaries are good, bonuses and benefits

    Cons

It's definitely not a "what you know" but "who you know" kind of company. Anyone you talk to in any kind of position usually knows someone who got them the job. lots of slackers with no direction, and nobody that will take up the position of giving direction. Very behind in technology.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit hiring friends of friends or family members who know nothing about the position they're being hired for. Get your act together when it comes to software and technology. Use it and keep your employees current. This job was like stepping back 30 years in time. Make your benefits more streamlined with other oil and gas companies.

    Pros

Was a challenging work environment that allowed me to learn and grow. Excellent salary and benefits and a lot of employees with many many years of service. Work schedule allowed me to be off every other Friday.

    Cons

With growth comes a lot of work . . .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Pretty good pay, stock incentives, 9/80 work schedule

    Cons

Management & HR is incompetent. Needs to respect employees. Stop with inappropriate behavior.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of upper management in Pittsburgh-start from scratch. The personnell issues are caused from the top on down. Need to install a competent HR dept. that actually investigates claims and enacts effective policies and punishments for infractions of policy.

I have been working at Cabot Oil & Gas

    Pros

Good people to work with and nice offices. This is an old company that has a legacy in the oil and gas business. Vendors come in almost everyday with breakfast or lunch with enough free food for everyone. There's free Starbucks coffee and the refrigerators are well stocked with free juices, teas and sodas. Employees work well in a team and get the work done.

    Cons

The land department is a revolving door. People leave and aren't replaced. As a result the remaing employees do the work of two or three people. No positive reinforcement from senior management. Management is largely absent. That leaves employees to gossip and guess what the priorities are when getting work done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look at senior management and reorganize the land department. Employees have to call headquarters in Houston to figure things out.

I have been working at Cabot Oil & Gas

    Pros

Salary and Benefits are good, but as the other person stated if you are a hourly employee you will not receive a bonus, even if you are told you will.

    Cons

The backstabbing is horrible and there is allot of inappropriate comments from management about other employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talk to your employees when you have an issue instead of hearsay and gossip.

I have been working at Cabot Oil & Gas

    Pros

Good pay, decent benefits, 9/80 work schedule, bonuses if you are an "essential" employee. If you are hourly you do not get bonuses.

    Cons

Favoritism is big here. Too much petty games between management. There is a lot of turnover in the Pittsburgh office to support this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at whom you have in charge. Typically all the insanity trickles down from the top. I believe if Upper management in the Pittsburgh office was replaced with a better leader than the rest would follow suit.
