I have been working at Cactus Club Cafe part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good vibe, environment was nice and coworkers were very friendly

    Cons

They were only hiring hostesses at the time though I wanted to be a server, made clear during the interview that I wanted to work up to become a server and they told me at the beginning that I could work my way up to a server in a couple months. didn't happen, ended up getting a job as a server immediately at a different restaurant

I worked at Cactus Club Cafe full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I worked at the English Bay location and It was a great summer job. The management and leadership is great at this location, and the co-workers are wonderful.

    Cons

The negatives to working at Cactus Club Cafe are that you do sacrifice some of your work-life balance due to the nature of working in the restaurant industry

Unfriendly work environment, heavy on the sexism

I worked at Cactus Club Cafe part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

-Decent pay, I was offered minimum wage with an additional 2 dollars of tips every hour
    -Nice enough management
    -Clean work environment

    Cons

-Management was all male, which was pretty weird considering all of the servers/hostesses were female
-Gross way of explaining the dress code, seriously. "SO UH, MAKE SURE YOUR NECKLINE ISN'T TOO HIGH.... But like, also not too low, but like... We only ever had one person go too low with the neckline, she ended up being a prostitute, but that's a funny story for another time har har!"
    -Unfriendly coworkers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more female and please don't make jokes about sex workers, it's not funny.

I worked at Cactus Club Cafe part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great team to support in the kitchen. Very hygienic restaurant

    Cons

Very stressful labour, tough times when menu count is over whelming. No breaks at times and discount is not that good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

better pay, more discount, do not be so cheap!

I have been working at Cactus Club Cafe full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very easy menu to cook, 15+ people on line at rush.
    Many servers at rush
    50% off staff meals.

    Cons

    $10.25/hour to start
    Set tips at $1/hour
Cook for a year as Saute, and they refuse to teach apps, salads, entree.
Pay is based on stations learned as a cook, neither quality or loyality (time in company) so still minimum.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In cactus they say 'Kaizen' which means improvement. In others words, improve your work and stay at the same pay. Good for the business, bad for a person working there. Workers are always improving, if you cut down on 1-2 cooks that are slacking you can pay the rest more, without hurting profits.
