Great industry, Great Business, Less than perfect workplace

Associate Brand Manager (Former Employee) Parsippany, NJ

ProsCadbury Adams was an exciting business and a great place to learn Food/CPG business in a fast paced environment. It is also a very innovation centric company. Unlike many other global companies interference from the home office was minimal.

ConsIt was an organization with poor people management, lower morale and consequently plagued by high churn especially in higher pressure functions like brand management (by an informal count the turnover at the entry level within two years was almost 50%). I don't think it was people in general but rather the process. For instance, tolerance of management for some very poor people managers (but effective subordinates or individual contributors) who accounted for a disproportionate amount of losses. Similarly, performance management and rewards system was, at best, broken.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt may be a slightly different situation now that this business is a wholly owned subsidiary of Kraft, but the leadership may do well by improving on the review process, more actively managing the people managers and by devoting more attention and resources to the well performing portions of the portfolio. I think at the top the management is very competent and very well intentioned but as we move down the totem pole things progressively worsen (at the director levels it is quite Peter's principle at work).

Consat times overly collaborative, people too nice not willing to shake it up enough and take risks. not many women in sr positions

Advice to Senior Managementwork better as a team
