I have been working at Caddo Parish Schools part-time (more than 5 years)Pros

Working with children
Working with many individuals who share your passion
Incompetent school administrators more interested in having a title than actually getting up from behind their desks.
"Who-you-know" method of employment..
Relatively low salary compared to comparable school districts w/ similar demographics, issues
Like EBR and about 10k less/yr of experience than neighboring DeSoto Parish (which has less problems).
Moves ineffective principal of a FAILING school to central office for an obscure job where he will continue making an almost 90k salary!Advice to ManagementAdvice
Pay attention to what's going on in education in Louisiana. With the amount of failing schools in the parish, and the drop-out rate it is only a matter if time before schools are duly taken over by the state and subsequently charters. Hiring your niece, fellow club member, of person you grew up with may not always be the best method or staffing a school or administration...but don't take my word for it. People from the north with their new-fangled, "school reform" are just dribbling at the jaws for these schools and Caddo Parish is playing right into their hands!

Retirement Package. Helping Kids is the best, even when not working directly with them.Cons
Salary compatible, but State controlled.Advice to ManagementAdvice
Work hard to keep everyone employed. Combining multiple jobs that are not related into one to avoid hiring is a disaster waiting to happen. Hire quakified consultants to do that type of job combinig research for you.RecommendsNo opinion of CEO
