    I worked at Cafe Deluxe full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Great place to work during school or other career endeavor - many people had other jobs or education paths they were focussed on and most managers were accommodating with schedules.

    Cons

    Like much of the restaurant industry, feeling appreciated or valued rarely occurred.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Show appreciation to those that are working hard and honestly for the business in meaningful ways so that good behavior continues.

    I worked at Cafe Deluxe part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    For a first-time job (I've worked 4 since/during) the pay is decent. The shifts aren't necessarily difficult, and a possible pro is that they are fairly short.
    Hosts got $10 off meals during shifts. Servers $5. It may have changed.

    Cons

    The list is rather large.
    -Host(ess) hours are minimal. They are lucky to have 20 hours per week.
    -Server hours are long and tedious, and often run into overtime (which does not grant higher pay because your checks are taken for taxes).
    -Bussers are mostly incompetent and supremely lazy. Of the four, two work (one being assigned solely to mornings alone) and two others do not. Of the three assigned to nights, only one does anything dealing with front-of-house maintenance. Servers and hosts are expected to bus all tables and run all food because there is nobody else helping.
    -Patio table spacing makes it difficult for anyone to do their jobs because there is no room. This also leads to guest complaints.
    -Guests are often horribly rude. They will move tables without consulting workers, relocate themselves (again without consulting workers), criticize you for things outside of your control, and generally show open disdain.
    ---Management is a pain. Their focus is 100% on the guest, with no regard for workers. There is often behind-the-back criticism of servers and hosts with no attempt to remedy the issue (it's left up to coworkers to try and correct them).
    -The kitchen is extremely small for a restaurant of its size. This leads to a crashing kitchen most weekends, leading to disgruntled customers.
