I have been working at Cahaba GBA full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are great, compensation is decent to above average. There is a lot of talent around you. CIO is very bright and innovative.

    Cons

Compliance shuts down basically any initiative. Managers are quick to shut down innovation. Lots of turnover because everyone is a chef in the kitchen. No one has any idea what processes are required to complete routine tasks. Process simply doesn't exist. PMO is clueless and rather ramble about things of which they have no idea. The word cloud is strictly prohibited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let your playmakers make plays. Get out of their way.

I worked at Cahaba GBA (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It was a pay check. Some of the employees are friendly

    Cons

It was great my first year but was a sinking ship after that. I was in a very dysfunctional department (5 managers in 4 years). Managers show favortism and are not qualified to be managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire qualified managers

  6. Horrific. The management staff all the way to the president have a lack of care for their employees.

I have been working at Cahaba GBA full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They offer a flexible schedule but if you are late more than 3 times then you get a warning.

    Cons

Lack of care for employees. The company has an ultimate goal to have all business in Birmingham so they could care less about the other sites.

Severance is not even an option if you are layed off. When you leave the company you leave with a box of your belongings and nothing else. They could care less about their employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire managers that are not robots and that care about their employees. Not managers that consider employees as a problem if they ask questions.

When laying staff of try to make sure that managers don't black ball staff that worked with them at previous employers.

I have been working at Cahaba GBA full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Schedules are flexible, managers do not micro-manage you as long as you do your job and you are producing. Managers as individuals are really good people and are very understanding.

    Cons

poor management, no room to move up, unorganized, unprofessional, low morale, the managers really don't know how to encourage and motivate their employees; many network and computer issues, management tends to take more of a reactive approach rather than a proactive approach. They wait until something happens to develop a plan of action.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Managers need to be able to understand the work of their employees. When we get behind and there's a lot that needs to be done, managers need to be willing and able to dig in and get their hands dirty as well. No manager is too good to do the work of their employees. It's almost like regardless of how hard you try, they always push for more as if what you are giving is not appreciated. Many employees have left or are in the process of leaving because of this issue and it seems that none of the managers seem to care because nothing has changed.

I have been working at Cahaba GBA

    Pros

Great benefits package with 4 week vacation at hire.
Pay is average for a corporation of this size.
Laid back managers that do not micromanage.

    Cons

Promotions tend to be automatic based on time not performance.
Leadership seems to be non existant.
Managers in my department tend to be to trusting of employees, several issues lately with employees slacking off and others having to fill in. There does not appear to be any punishment for letting the team down.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start tracking the poor performers and get rid of them. We have a great company, but too many people not pulling their weight. It has been my experience that about 10-15% of the staff could be eleminated if proper compensation and incentive were given to the remaining staff.
