I worked at CalAmp full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great products. Stocks did great recently. But as an employee you get ZERO stock benefits.

    Cons

Make you work for 3-4 persons. Extremenly STINGY management. Almost all of them are WWII relics. The only work place which don't even offer water to employees. You MUST pay for even water. Extremely thanksless place to work. I remember developing an entire team from groundsup for NOTHING. No increment, no promotion and not even acknowledgement of those many many extra hours that I put. I was assigned 8 separate projects at the same time when i resigned. STAY FAR FAR FAR AWAY from this terrible company.

I have been working at CalAmp full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

OK work hours in some departments

    Cons

Women are not respected at senior levels and are treated as second class citizens. Male managers are possessive, condescending and dismissive.
Outdated office culture which is similar to the 60's era (Mad Men).
Unprofessional, reactionary, paranoid and outdated senior management. They're very resistant to improvements or keeping up with the times for the benefit of the company. Their motto is "We're not changing. You take your ideas somewhere else, if you don't like it here."
Senior managers are untouchable and suffer absolutely no consequences. Subordinates are blamed and subsequently fired for the managements' wrong decisions.

I have been working at CalAmp

    Pros

Strong competitor, decent compensation, stock price has done well.

    Cons

Does not value product quality. Cost reduction is king. Sending jobs to China is a very high priority. Management is not employee friendly. Acquisitions have been horrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees at all levels with respect. Stop trading cost for quality. Value Engineering and Manufacturing done in the USA. Create a no tolerance environment for senior manager's being disrespectful and demeaning to other employees.

    Pros

    Company stock is doing well.

    Cons

No culture. Employees walk around with their heads down. No team building. Lots of turnover. Must hit the ground running or you will be terminated after 2-3 months. No training. Every employee is tasked the work of 2 people. Pay is on the low scale of the industry standard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Current Employee - Anonymous Employee

I have been working at CalAmp full-time

    Pros

Business is on a sharp growth curve and has been consistently throughout a tough recession
Good people who are willing to take on more responsibilities can do so if they step up

    Cons

Management is primarily focused on stock value
Employee satisfaction is probably lowest on the list of priorities to management
    Quality control is seriously lacking
Lack of scalability - No real interest in process and optimization

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sooner or later, the 30, 40 percent growth curve will slow. Prepare for this by optimizing the business with better processes, top notch people, and quality control procedures. That way, your customers will be happier with solid products, employees will be more fulfilled, and your stock value won't tank like it did last time you mismanaged the business.
