Pros – Decent patient to nurse ratios. Good medical and nursing care provided to patients. Competitive wages. Good team work among the nurses.

Former Employee – worked at California Pacific Medical Center as an intern for more than a year
Pros – Offers enormous amount of high-quality training and supervision by seasoned clinicians. Offers a wide range of work, from in-patient/acute to outpatient (children, adolescents, adults, and couples), from severe mental health disorders to high-functioning individuals with transient adjustment disorders and neurotic-level of functioning.
Cons – No pay for predoctoral intern or for postdoctoral fellows, not as much opportunity to work with children and adolescents as adults and couples. There was no family therapy program when I was there and zero assessment.
Advice to Senior Management – Reincorporate assessment into the training program, become AIPIC or APA-accredited, and offer at least a stipend equal to Access Institute.

Pros – Co-workers; Access to Managers; Pay Scale
Cons – Constantly trying to streamline work, and replace with different, not better ways of doing things that put undue pressure on health care workers.

Current Employee – been working at California Pacific Medical Center
Pros – flexibility, location, learning, good collegues,
Cons – lower pay compared to other SF hospitals. little hope for advancement.
Advice to Senior Management – there are many qualified people in allied health professions to be hired or promoted to management. Many have masters degrees in public or health administration.

Former Employee – worked at California Pacific Medical Center
Pros – The reason you work for a hospital is to care for the patients. If you work at cpmc you have to remind yourself of this often.
Cons – leadership is terrible. nothing is done without a committee. The IT team is run by the ceo 's son in law and his number two thinks he is still living in a frat house.
Advice to Senior Management – Take an early retirement.

Former Employee – worked at California Pacific Medical Center
Pros – - Excellent benefits and good pay
- Some high quality co-workers and managers
- Opportunities for professional development exist if you seek it out
Cons – - Weak leadership with questionable morals and poor communication skills
- A culture of blame and incompetence was promoted by executive mgmt.
- Heavy workload for those who work in administration
Advice to Senior Management – Don't send a letter out to all employees saying they need to prepare for cutbacks the same year as when Sutter Health, the parent company, has posted a 30% increase in revenues and is being investigated by the CA State Insurance Commissioner for insurance fraud and overbilling.

Pros – Good place to collaborate with peers and to learn.
Cons – Advancement seems to be dependent upon who you know. Some managers are not effective in performance management - that affects the whole group.
