Cons
management lack of understanding of power operations

Diversity of people in staff positions. Flexibility in work schedules. Exciting energy environment as a power producer. The opportunity for change is still present.
Cons
There are silo of information pockets within the organization. Managment blind spots regarding the diversity and the true intergrity of people as well as those who are actually completing the tasks. Lack of diversity in management and supervisory roles. Lack of clear developmental or rotation plans for all employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Attempt to socialize within the work place outside of the groups in which you are familiar or typically associate outside of the work place. Be objective in your decisions and attempt to make decisions on factual research not group think.
Pros
Nice remote place to work. Friendly atmosphere.
Cons
Local management is unable to conduct normal business due to intense oversight/approvals/trust issues with the corporate office. Bureaucratic issues severely impede any progress.
Advice to Senior Management
Executive management needs to realize that the local unit at the Geysers is fully capable of running an efficient and profitable arm without their help. The Geysers is a resource based power unit and cannot be run like a gas plant. The structure is such that the resource side is highly under staffed while the power side is over staffed and holds too much control over something that they do not understand, Please sell us off to someone who knows how to manage a natural resource.
Pros
Not real hard work compared to a refinery
Cons
Working with operators. They treat you terribly as if you are a "king", or "easy money".
Advice to Senior Management
Requiring more professionalism from employees.

Advice to Senior Management
The leadership at Calpine needs to focus on how they communicate infoamtion to its employees.
Pros

Current management does not seem to value human assets at an acceptable level. This view toward employees creates a sense "humans are commodities" and makes it a difficult place to want to come back to day after day.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat employees as true assets
Pros
Great Benefits
Great Salary & bonuses
Promotional opportunities
Good work/life balance in most departments
Cons
Conflicting information communicated out to employees sometimes
Alot of recent lay-offs
Over the years, management has stopped appreciating long-time employees
Advice to Senior Management
Appreciate the employees who built the company and who made sacrifices in the early stages in order to make the organization successful.
Pros
Workers in my group had the team mentality and when things go wrong we would put out the fires. Great place to work!
Cons
The night shifts were brutal and management was ok...I also wished they expanded their operation. I don't know why but who cares.
