    Pros

Great flexibility. No long hours expected. The firm has knowledgeable people from all areas of finance from whom one can learn a tremendous amount about both technology and the business area.

    Cons

Very big technological debt due to more or less desperate work arounds. Creativity is hurt by having to spend time on getting fundamental tools to work. Environment can be highly political at times.

    Advice to Management

Try to establish a clear road map for the company and reduce the firefighting driven development cycle.

  2. Some very good people, some very poor management. Company too big to be run by one person, but still is.

    Pros

Opportunity to work at one of the leading software vendors. Lots of travel opportunities. A few really very smart and good people that you can learn from. Some excellent client sites with a great variety of financial products

    Cons

Poor management, very re-active rather than pro-active. Most cower from the CEO and try just not to make a mistake rather than be innovative and take true ownership of products etc. Product is great when it works but so many gaps that no solution is complete and there is no attempt to finish anything when chasing the next big sale.
Biggest con is senior management. Not supportive unless suits short term goals.

    Advice to Management

It is better to reward competence rather than sycophants. A change in management is desperately needed, fresh blood has been added, but it is still the same tune

    Pros

    Interesting and challenging Projects
Travel to exotic and not-so-exotic places for work.
    Many good people
work from home and flexible work hours

    Cons

Little room for personal growth, little or no training nor structure around personal development. Some very bad decisions in product management. Slow or incomplete product delivery. Only one decision maker in the company. Culture of bullying pervades SF Head Office. Morale very low globally. Pay below market and that of competitors. High staff turn over.

    Advice to Management

Refresh senior management. Invest in staff. Improve the product, Improve QA. move to a big company culture. stop playing favourites.
