Mixed feelings about PRG/MIG experiences thus far.

    Analyst (Current Employee)
    Arlington, VA

Pros- The consultants are smart, hard working, and dedicated to C|A's cause.
    - The firm is well respected; a thought leader within the pension/endowment space.
    - Strong work ethic exhibited throughout the firm.
    - Generous earned time off.
    - Fellow analysts are pretty cool.

Cons- Management in PRG/MIG is extreme in their views.
    - Limited internal mobility both within the department and at the firm.
    - Monotonous work and underpaid for extreme work hours.
    - Little to no recognition for work being done.

Advice to Senior ManagementAdvice to firm wide management: take a second look at how the Wilson office employees are managed.
Open internal opportunities to all employees.
Focus more on development and less on keeping the norm.

    Slow, clunky, lots of overhead

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsWell recognized name in the industry, very intelligent people.

ConsReally slow to change, lack of investment in technology makes everything 10 times harder to complete

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't wait until it's too late to make investments in technology. The firm is paying for the lack of investment from the last 5-10 years.

    Get off the sinking ship

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsCambridge is a growing company. Cambridge has a unique culture like no other, they are client focused, and hard work oriented. In the financial world Cambridge is on top.

Cons(IT) Management needs to get in touch with their employees; communication is seriously lacking always leaving employees wanting more or further discouraged, everyone is afraid of loosing their jobs, this has created an "on edge" work environment. Leaders lack accountability. Testing is not complete prior to huge projects mostly just thought up and implemented. The network crashes on a monthly basis, with no resolve and sugar covered explanations.

Advice to Senior ManagementStabilize the network before implementing new procedures

ProsThere are lots of very nice, intelligent, hard working, motivated people.

ConsThere is a lack of vision and leadership by senior management. It is a very insular team with too much group think.

    Great culture and people

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsSmart, caring coworkers and supervisors. Some very smart consultants. Interesting work with high profile clients. Opportunity to learn about all asset classes through due diligence on top investment managers, research, etc. Great brand recognition. As an associate you can get involved in a variety of auxiliary functions such as marketing, recruiting, etc.

ConsSome groups can be difficult to work with. Large company where change is slow to implement. Average starting salaries, but lower than industry raises and bonus.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't be afraid to change the status quo. Update technology resources. Start planning for the future and passing more shares of ownership to the MDs.

Great place to start out with good benefits

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Arlington, VA

ProsCollegial and casual atmosphere with great benefits (medical, dental, etc.) as well as a good work/life balance in most departments.

ConsCareer progression is unclear or non-existent.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake more time to invest in all employees exhibiting potential, not just a few. Management should find a way to create growth and advancement opportunities for entry level employees so that they can cultivate talent and retain institutional knowledge. At the very least they could offer useful and directional advice based on the employees skills and interests.
