I have been working at Cambridge Savings Bank full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Overall I enjoyed working for this company. The compensation was good, although bonuses could have been better for the work we were doing. I guess that's the case in any banking environment. Never really had a problem when we need time off which is nice.

    Cons

I'm not a downer so I'll try to keep this PG. If someone likes you in this bank, a manager or someone higher up, you are going places. If they don't, it doesn't matter how hard you work. The regionals try to say they'll help you get to where you need to, but they don't do much. It has the potential to be a great company, if it wasn't similar to the "h.s. cliques".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote people based on merit, not whether they are your "yes man".

Good and competitive benefits and salaries

    Cons

Very political culture. It's all about who you know to get promoted.

I worked at Cambridge Savings Bank full-time

    Pros

    Decent pay and work-life balance.

    Cons

The only challenging thing about working here is dealing with the lack of being challenged. You will get bored quickly and there isn't much room for growth depending on what department you are in. There are so many "officers" that the title has zero meaning. Office is full of cliques, but that is not to say here aren't good people to work with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You are headed in the right direction, last I heard. Incompetent managers are being weeded out and there is a lot of reorganizing going on. You have a lot of young smart people there and you are probably going to lose them all if you don't provide incentive for them to grow.

I worked at Cambridge Savings Bank full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Many people are nice.
    Benefits are good.

    Cons

    Management plays favorites.
Management doesn't appreciate people and doesn't have real expectations.
Management doesn't really care about turnover - you are expendable.
Technology is always a problem - the internet is a joke and you can't rely on the network to get your work done.
Only people who are on the sales team in some way are valued.
It doesn't matter what kind of effort you put in - you it goes unnoticed and unappreciated by upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work harder at showing employees that you care about them and that you appreciate their loyalty - otherwise, they have no reason to stick around.

I have been working at Cambridge Savings Bank

    Pros

There are good down to earth people who work here.

    Cons

Nepotism rules all. The only way to move up is to be blessed with a good department head.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are quite a few people who are kept at the bank even though they provide no added benefit to the overall business.

I have been working at Cambridge Savings Bank as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Very progressive and dedicated people. Good pay and awesome company culture.

    Cons

Not having much time as an intern there it would be hard from me to provide an actual review on the cons of senior management. Considering the middle management and staff were great, I'll only assume that executive management is doing something right.

I worked at Cambridge Savings Bank

    Pros

The benefits is the only good thing

    Cons

This is the worst bank ever. The management system is a total FAIL. The Harvard Square branch is one of the worse place I ever been to. These people don't care for there employees, everyone want to kiss each other ass. You got managers who DON'T even know how to open a BUSINESS OR CHECKING account, plus instead of doing there work, they are always trying to be in your personal life. You have people who work there getting write ups from managers who LIES for a living. I will never have my accounts there again plus I never advice anyone to work in this bank. TOTAL FAIL

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

GROW UP and start listening to the "LITTLE PEOPLE" these SO CALLED MANAGERS, don't have no one best interest

I worked at Cambridge Savings Bank full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Above average pay is about the only good thing this place has going for it.

    Cons

Widget driven business model, incompetent senior management, no focus on relationship banking, systems are dated and ALL your emails are monitored on a daily basis (an Orwellian approach that leads to distrust and paranoia). Also found the culture to be very gossipy. Senior management is very demanding and to make matters worse, it has no idea on how to provide support so that ones sales goals can be achieved (e.g. Very quick to point out what you are not doing right, but provide no advice/support on how to improve.. Their advice is always "just get more accounts"). This place does not genuinely care for its associates (unless you are constantly kissing a**) and is a horrible culture to work for.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop thinking and operating like the super regional bank that you aren't
