  1. I teach Composition I and II as an Adjunct. On average, I receive 2-3 classes per semester.

    Pros

Students are wonderful for the most part, classrooms are very tech-enhanced.

    Cons

Very difficult to for me to get classes on the same campus. This semester I am teaching 3 classes on 2 different campuses, and I am scheduled to teach 2 classes next semester on 2 different campuses. There is also very little recognition for Adjunct Professors by the administration. I have received more encouraging words from my students, academic advising and disability services than the chair of the department or any other administration personnel.

    Pros

Diverse student population. Pay is better than Burlington County College.

    Cons

Cronyism. Weak union. Enrollment is dropping.

    Advice to Management

Need a more innovative long-range plan, dependent on community needs.

    Pros

When I began working at the College I believed I had found a place that I would love to work until retirement. Most of the people were wonderful, lots of strong bright women willing to share ideas and work together, ideas in general were valued and hard work was rewarded.

    Cons

Over the last year or so the culture has changed. Ideas and change are no longer valued. The focus has shifted from the student to the bottom dollar.

    Advice to Management

Go back to basics. Determine what really matters - this should be the students! Stand up against Camden County politics. Do what is right for the students and allows you to look at yourself in the mirror and still be ok with what you see. CCC has the ability to be an amazing place to be for students and staff - make it so!

    Pros

Camden county college is a great place to start or finish your education. With One on One teaching students can really feel comfortable asking for help. Plus its a good price for an education.

    Cons

The school needs to acquire better technology for students to use.

    Advice to Management

Students are customers of the college. Please remember that and treat them as such. Without students teachers don't have jobs and there are plenty of public colleges out their for students to choose from and if you want to stand out you need to be different. Treating students as people is the best practice.

    Pros

Great Benefits, minus the outrageous union dues paid to a union that does very little.
Opportunity to develop great experience in the higher education field.
    Non-Management employees have great chemistry

    Cons

Employees are undervalued especially in salary.
    Management is not very professional.
The college is not moving fast enough technologically and will soon find themselves paying for their inability to keep up with advanced technology.

    Advice to Management

Show your good employees you value them starting with verbal recognition and if their work continues to be outstanding, reward them with tangible things like pay, days off, new titles or an opportunity to focus on developing new skills.
