    Amazing place to work, great company that takes care of employees!

    Community Manager (Former Employee)
    Louisville, KY

    ProsGreat place to work, fun atmosphere!! Great support in every aspect, IT, marketing, training, and upper management. They always give you the tools needed to get the job done. Surprise bonuses, great bonus structure for managers.

    ConsLong hours don't leave a lot of family time. The industry as a whole has changed over the past 5 years, more money focused than customer satisfaction. If the property you are on is older the chances of it selling are very likely.

    Politics Over Possibilities

    Leasing Consultant (Former Employee)
    Orlando, FL

    ProsLarge company that can offer great benefits; they have a large footprint in major areas and allow for the *possibility* to transfer or advance; great training program to ensure that you are prepared for your job.

    ConsRegions are overrun with petty, high-school politics. If you're not buddy-buddy with your District Manager, forget any chances for advancement. Even then, the property managers stick around so long that you would have to move cross-country to opportunities to move up.

    Advice to Senior ManagementDo an anonymous survey to find out what the problems with your management are. Until then, expect to have happy district managers and property managers, and unhappy assistants and leasing consultants.

    A great company to work for but the kind of job that consumes your life.

    Community Manager (Former Employee)
    Chadds Ford, PA

    ProsThe founders of the company really to live by the company values and it filters all the way down to the site level employees. They are a professional company and truly do their best to 'do the right thing' always.

    ConsAs a property manager I found the demands of my position were hard to meet. There is an immense amount of work that Camden expects to get done -- there just aren't enough hours in the day.

    Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you start to see your entire staff turning over, spend some time trying to figure out what is going on. In this instance, a horrible manager was brought on board and all the staff left. It took the company way too long to figure this out and many good employees were lost as a result.

    Awesome place and great people

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsEveryone is extremely pleasant and helpful! Awesome office and the location is perfect. Special company events are fun and unique.

    ConsLike any organization I believe upper management fell short on hearing some employees.

    Advice to Senior ManagementTry and listen to employees who are not in upper management to fix any problem before its to late.

    Must be a people's person

    Leasing Consultant (Former Employee)
    Tampa, FL

    Pros-Good 1st office job if you have no office experience;
    -Office working hours + every other weekend;
    -Good benefits

    Cons-You must be a very patient person to deal with residents. You will get paid hourly+ commission on the apartments that you lease, however; most of the time you will be dealing with not-polite, picky, screaming residents;
    -There is not much opportunity for growth- I know people who have been in the same job position for years- and they were good employees;
    -Commissions are not that good- it's better to just get a job at a bank- better hours and better pay

    Advice to Senior ManagementEach property had a different manager and a managing style. I worked for three different managers: two out of the three were not good managers. It really comes down to personality. My only advice would be that managers treat all employees the same.

    Decent company, decent pay, upper management clueless to what really goes on

    Leasing Consultant (Current Employee)

    ProsThe company provides uniforms for their employees at the time of hire and twice annually. Employees are provided with training which some companies do not provide. The company has a strong brand with the hummingbird and various items that are branded. Camden has a vision for a strong presence on social media sites via facebook, twitter and blogs. They provide annual and holiday bonuses. The health benefits are better than most companies. They provide modern amenities for residents and have online leasing, online rental payments etc. The company recognizes employees but how they get the formula for these awards does not always make sense.

    ConsVacation takes six months to accrue. Training can take months depending on when you are hired. The trainers are sometimes outdated in their teaching methods. At mandatory training you have to pay for your own food for lunch. Some of the site managers are questionable in their ethical and moral actions. Site visits are schefuled allowing employees to prep an unrealistic impression of what the community looks like. People who get promoted seem to be political promotions. There are various cliques and if you're not in you are left out of social events. The "hugging" culture is semi unprofessional when you first meet someone. Sometimes it seems like a competition from upper management to see who can show the most team spirit when other things could have more importance placed on then. There are various inconsistencies in policy management from community to community. It doesn't seem like corporate really listens to residents surveys. Maintenance are paid fairly low for what is required of them.

    Advice to Senior ManagementWatch your communities closely and listen to the employees on site. Managers often disguise areas of opportunities for their own self preservation. If the majority of managers were living the Camden values it could be a great company.

    Great company to work for

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Charlotte, NC

    ProsThe overall benefits package is better than other property management companies. The technology and resources available to the employees make the work easier. The culture is great, Camden promotes a fun work atmosphere.

    ConsLike any large company there can be favoritism, but it doesn't occur at Camden any more than it happens at any other company I have worked for.

    One of the better property management companies but still a corporate structure.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    Proscontinual training, possible advancement, casual environment, charity-oriented, a "hugging" culture

    Consthorough training may not occur for months after start date, company functions are 'voluntarily' mandatory, can be clique-sh

    Advice to Senior ManagementUse the many different talents of employees to further the company.

    Brown nose your way to the top

    Maintenance Supervisor (Former Employee)
    Washington, DC

    ProsUniforms, benefits and nothing else

    ConsProperty managers are basically concierges who brown nosed their way to the top. They have no clue of real property management. Its not parties or drinking sessions. It doesn't mean you own your employees or have the right to threaten firing your staff at any point.

    During interview you are told huge pipe dreams and promised a family organization and once hired the less are exposed. People with no experience cannot lead a properly functioning team and will pull everyone's moral down.

    Sorry I wasted my time.

    Advice to Senior ManagementHire experienced property managers and make sure your upper management understand ethics, customer relations, project management, hr management, team leadership. Stop promoting your friends and instead invest in restructuring based on all your negative comments and all of who have filed this review and the one you sent us "for our honest feedback"
