Pros
-Tonnes of opportunity to develop your career (especially if you're willing to move and/or travel)
-Best in class benefits (in the country I'm in - Canada)
-Lots of training programs for all levels of staff
-Presidents level managers who are extremely approachable and take the time to talk to low level employees (especially at the Valve and Measurement Group)
-Relatively solid IT tools
-Sales incentive plan is excellent
-Really excellent people everywhere you go
-Extremely strong ethical values
-Six Sigma (now called Enterprise Excellence) program offers great opportunities
Cons
-Pay needs a little bump....we're competitive but often end up as a training ground for competition.
-Management incentive plan is really bad
-Strange obsession with promoting Harvard MBA's into positions they are incapable of handling.
-More Finance people than most major accounting firms. (I'm being sarcastic but you know what I mean)
-HR teams can be awful (others are fine)
-Bad managers often do damage for a long period of time before dealt with.
-Management needs to do more - quickly about safety.
-Optimus project is ridiculous.
Advice to Senior Management
Mostly you're doing great....
MICP needs serious work.
Get engaged on Safety - Top safety guy reports to 3rd level VP?
Optimus is a mess....a total mess..... yet we push forward.
Pros
Brand recognition, market penetration, respect in the industry.
Cons
Red tape, slow to respond, quick to point fingers
Advice to Senior Management
Not every department can run like a rental company. Customers will be unsatisfied with all aspects.
Pros
You want to work for this company.
Cons
Long time spent in the middle of no where to get my foot in the sales door.
Advice to Senior Management
Be more respectful to the new guys.
Pros
This place has the best people to work with
Cons
Promotions and incentives not transparent
Advice to Senior Management
Patience wears off easily under tremendous work and stress load. Incentives to perform should be merit based and the policy should be transparent to promote a healthy work environment
Pros
they have a good 401k but they change investment companies to often and the insurance is ok but the cost seems to go up a little to much each year. it eats up the little 2 or 3 % raise you may or may not get.
Cons
The management that i work with with seem to forget or just dont care that the hourly employee are people not a piece of equipment. they have no incentives. they are to hush hush on the pay scale. they will throw work off on you that you was not part of your job and if you go to HR with it that is just a waste of time. they spend money on useless stuff and dont want to buy what you need.there is no communication. if you let them they will have you working 7 days a week 12 hours a day they dont care that you you have a family.
Advice to Senior Management
The upper management needs to take a long hard look at the people they put in there middle management and stop going by the good old boy system. be more open with the pay scale. stop and talk to the production workers when you visit a plant.
Pros
Cameron is a fairly decent place to be in if your want to have an overview of the oil industry because the business is positioned in between end consumer and oil exploration. If you want to know more about the industry, this will be a good place to be in.
Cons
While the people I have interact with in Cameron are very nice, there seem to be a lack of competition between employees to strive for executive positions. For people looking for challenges, this may not be a place where you will get much satisfaction
Pros
The projects assigned to me were challenging and actually benefited the company. Recieved exposure to many levels of upper-management. The benefits for full-timers are the best around and the internships are very competitive.
Cons
While most interns had a fantastic experience, there were a few that were bored to death. Either their bosses were out of town a lot or their projects were more research-based.
Advice to Senior Management
Seems like a great place to work.
Pros
Good 401 K package, many blue collar, hard working men and women, investment opportunities, and good healthcare package.
Cons
Same individuals are overworked daily, including weekends and holidays. These excessive hours go against all that is taught related to safety measures the company pretends to take. I have seen many men literally falling asleep at their stations due to total exhaustion.
Management is very disconnected with the actual men working on assembly which causes alot of wasted work time and many redo projects that could be avoided.
Many shortcuts taken and pinned on the actual workers instead of management or supervisory positions. These shortcuts cause many to be overworked with no extra pay except for what is already received.
Serious disconnects between those who work and those who don't. This may be because those who screw up move up and those who work hard are never given advancements.
Hours are long with little to no breaks at all.
Unless Cameron is the only company and your need to stay close to home is exceptional, this is not a great place to work. Moral is so low and turnover is very high. All this could be easily fixed, but overlooked instead.
Advice to Senior Management
Realize how much those doing the work are actually over worked into dangerous hours. There should be a max of no more than 50 hrs. if all are compliant with safety. Those branches working their men and women over this amount should be disciplined.
Workers are given so little time to eat and get off their feet. This should b increased for safety purposes as well.
Workers should be able to use their vacation and sick leave with no harassment or bullying. They should have to give no reasons to administration as long as they have not gone over days alloted. This is invasive and proves Cameron has hidden agendas to overwork employees.
If workers go over 40 hrs a week, they should be substantially paid. This is a multi million dollar company who can afford to make overtime worth it for their employees.
Finally, many people in administration need to realize that without the assemblers, machine workers, welders, etc. there would be no Cameron. There should be more appreciation shown and respect given to those in the real trenches.
Pros
Cameron had vary good health benefits especially for my kids. The salaries are low compared to industry standards, but the benefits are very good and hard work gets promoted.
Cons
Salaries were low and the atmosphere was depressing.
Pros
Good team work atmosphere, coworkers are helpful, no pressure during working time, fair treatment of the workers, good training opportunities.
Cons
not a very good benefits, promotions takes many many years, vacation is just 10 days a year for the new hired.
Advice to Senior Management
It would be a very good to build Cameron Training center in Europe to provide technicians and other office personnel with appropriate training. European Location of Cameron doesnt provide training to personnel in some countries, and they visit platforms as a trainees with zero offshore experiences.
