I worked at Cameron Mitchell Restaurants

    Pros

People are all willing to teach you something new, great promotion from within. Food is delicious, restaurant treats you well when you dine

    Cons

Weak pay, corporate people often come in and stand over your shoulder which is annoying, and food cost inane really considered. Not really given time to eat, and employee meals are usually the same thing

I worked at Cameron Mitchell Restaurants full-time

    Pros

-You can hopefully make just enough money to support yourself.
-Health insurance is offered, but is a "mini-plan". It is hopeful that you don't ever face a serious medical condition because you will have difficulty obtaining enough medical coverage to cover the expenses. Combined with a low wage, that could be extremely detrimental to your financial well-being.

    Cons

-Management and Upper Management is treated much better than "associates" in terms of benefits and "perks/ bonuses/ and rewards". This is blatantly obvious to the associates and is very disheartening to see, which results in low morale and general unhappiness. For a company that emphasizes "putting our associates first" as part of their core philosophy, this hardly seems to pertain anymore.
-There are only so many spots to grow or move up within the company even though they are a growing company. Your fate is determined to whether upper management likes you enough to give you a chance. Definite office politics going on here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a moment and remember "the little people" who do the heavy work which provides you with your great financial return. Cameron seems to be more concerned about growing the company and making money than focusing on strengthening his current brands and supporting employees whom grow these brands.

    Pros

    Great benefits, a lot of company-related gatherings/events

    Cons

Managers tend to be promoted through popularity contest as opposed to ability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure your restaurants are actually following the culture and philosophies you espouse during training. Often, the cultures and philosophies are emphasized in training then months after training, the cultures and philosophies are nowhere to be found/not practiced. Practice what you preach!

I have been working at Cameron Mitchell Restaurants part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I have been a server and a server assistant. All employees want to be there, help each other out, and have a great attitude. Things run very smoothly and most of the time all the employees do their share of the side work and opening/closing duties without being told

    Cons

The general manager plays favorites and is kind of fake
Cleanliness in the back of the house throughout the day is not enforced at all

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Assign clean-as-you-go duties throughout the day.

    Pros

This company does what all companies say they will do, but don't- Put the employee first

    Cons

Not enough incentives for the long-term worker. Offer a bonus, even if it is just a gift card to go in and eat a nice dinner!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember to re-evaluate your opinions of your employees. If someone is working hard to get better, tell them that you notice it.
