I worked at Camp Bow Wow part-time

    Pros

    There is a cute logo.

Might be good at other locations. A lot of people from Colorado are saying it's great there.

Might be good if you're looking for a resume builder for an animal-related field, or if you're in college and you're the Hulk.

    Cons

Dangerous work environment in many ways. Huge back room with no cameras, besides the obvious dog fighting. Back room was so loud it hurt your ears, and decor is steel bars and concrete everywhere.

"Gate Etiquette": Steel gates a real challenge with strong dogs, try not get your hand caught in steel locks.

Minimum wage, random hours with no breaks.

You aren't allowed to play with the dogs- when you're actually in the yards, you can pet the dogs but you can't stand still for more than a few seconds. You're there to keep everything calm, not to have fun with them, or dog fights could break out.

You're in the yards for a quarter of the time. The other three quarters of time is cleaning.

Cleaning can be physically demanding, especially at the fast speed that's expected. Try not to get hurt.

Lots of mini-managers. The biggest problem was the checklist of jobs: no one is nice if you're new or just more thorough and not as fast as the others. You had to initial next to the jobs you did, and with so much hard work, other employees would police each other to make sure they weren't doing more work than you. In a company with a huge concrete back room with no cameras, this intimidation was enough to send me running in the opposite direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have stronger leadership, and a system with assigned jobs to prevent mini-managers and worse.

    Don't disrespect your staff.

Have a homier, more community-based atmosphere. Would it hurt to throw in a few rugs, some couches, or furniture for the dogs and humans to look at?

I worked at Camp Bow Wow

    Pros

Working with the dogs is fun. The policies from corporate are usually good though follow through is sometimes lacking. There are a variety of task to do during the day so it's never boring.

    Cons

There are no benefits. The dogs are not always managements first concern. Some of the policies don't work the way they should.

    Pros

CBW is an incredible place to work. The office has a great culture and everyone is supportive and willing to lend a hand when necessary. Continuing education and training are provided which allows for constant growth and the opportunity to succeed. Everyone has an open door policy so you can feel comfortable reaching out to anyone at anytime. To top it all off, you can bring your dog to work.

    Cons

I honestly cannot think of any cons in relation to this company.
