Pros
the company offers great benefits
Cons
unfortunately the salary is a huge factor for a con
Pros
Lots of time off and paid holidays
Relaxed atmosphere (dress code and attitudes)
Flexible hours
Company-sponsored social events (e.g., Lot Rock, Final Four, etc.)
Great opportunity to work on some big-name accounts and build your portfolio
Some really great people
Cons
Pay is horrible compared to similar jobs in the area/industry
Promotions are promised but not always given (e.g., we're on a pay freeze or can't do anything because we've lost business/a rec)
Offices are completely outdated and working in Warren is depressing
Advice to Senior Management
Do a better job of retaining your employees. You've lost a lot of talented people over the past few years and not just due to layoffs. Because, like me, they finally wised up and realized that there are jobs out there. Ones where their hard work and talent will be appreciated and rewarded with advancement and much better pay.
Pros
Decent work life balance.
Fun atmosphere
Cons
Bad pay scale compared to other agencies.
Bad communication from management and not many career growth aopportunities.
Pros
Decent clients, opportunity to do anything, no matter how young you are. C-E will give anybody any project as long as it's done. It doesn't matter how experienced you are. That is good for your portfolio. Everybody has heard of Campbell-Ewald, and everybody seems to have worked there at one time or another.
Cons
Stay a few years, make decent money and get cut. Company will replace you with a new grad. Kind of creepy at times, like company is trying too hard to make you think it's a good place to work. Salaries aren't so competitive.
Pros
Got to work on large company commercial spots that are well known to everyone, including Chevy, Navy and many others.
Cons
Company was quickly losing clients and was undergoing alot of cuts including staff. They where having problems keeping there current clients and getting new ones.
Advice to Senior Management
I don't really have much advice for the leadership. The leadership I had was pretty good. Can't say much about the other departments.
Pros
some very smart and highly regarded professionals
dedicated teams
Cons
typical egos
casualty of the auto industry
Advice to Senior Management
good luck in 2011
Pros
People, people, people (I've had the opportunity to work with some fun and great people)
Decent benefits
Lots of time off
Cons
People, people, people (I had to put up with some mediocre people who are there just for the paycheck and nothing more)
Senior management is archaic
Advice to Senior Management
Meet your stuff, they are some jewels among the overall mediocracy. Find them and make sure they take on more responsibilities
Pros
Many talented people in mid-level positions.
Cons
Sr. Management is full of ego and out of touch.
Advice to Senior Management
Get to know your employees and the work they're capable of.
Pros
-great experience if you're on the right account
-benefits
-LOTS of time off
-co-workers are GREAT
-random parties or mizers
Cons
-LONG hours
-no one appreciates the work you put in
-hard to advance, especially with Chevy people transferring accounts
Advice to Senior Management
it's time to start senior management to start taking their own responsibilities. they put blame on people below them.
Pros
There are some good managers that will have your back and keep you around if you do a good job. Most of the people are nice.
Cons
Many poor workers are shuffled around instead of being let go, then good workers might be let go if their account goes under, instead of shifting them to replace poor workers. There is no training - you're just thrown into things and expected to figure it out even if it's a process you've never seen before.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit shuffling the crappy people around and do some real housekeeping. There are too many there that talk a good game but don't actually do any work.
