    Pros

Great starting wage, work environment, performance incentives, and employee benefits.

    Cons

While starting wage is higher than competitors, there aren't very many opportunities for wages.

    Pros

Great people, decent pay structure, a behemoth in the RV field and growing constantly. You will never lack for work or opportunities, especially if you are open to transferring.

    Cons

There is a tendency to treat staff and customers as disposable. This was beginning to change when I left and has hopefully improved considerably by now. There is an inordinate focus on numbers that can become a slippery slope. Corporate insists that it doesn't exist but you are driven hard to meet the metrics. There are no SOP's in place.

    Advice to Management

Slow down and take a critical look at the structure and process. The losses and write offs will start to disappear if you give your locations some solid ground to stand on.

    Pros

Full time work, decent PTO, good 401k match

    Cons

No support from regional management, having your job threatened on a daily basis (especially when asking for assistance from upper management), actual pay vs. pay plan projections, lies from regional management regarding support, employee pay plans etc. The particular region I was in was a haven for inaccountability, unbelievably high turn over (a 55 employee location went through 70 people in two years) with all management positions completely turned over 3-4 times in two years and customer dissatisfaction.

They'll say what you want to get you in the door and completely ignore all promises made once you're there.

    Advice to Management

The CEO seems like a decent guy, but is too busy worrying about branding himself to worry about specific locations having issues. I would suggest visiting some of your stores that consistently have customer satisfaction issues/high turnover issues. See whats going on at the ground level.

    Pros

You get new management every few months, and see new faces every few weeks since the place is like a revolving door.

    Cons

Management has no idea what they are doing, treat customers and employees like garbage, when asking for a raise they simply tell you "good luck".

    Advice to Management

None, you are just going to be replaced shortly.

    Pros

The company is flexibility and provides autonomy if you can get the job done.

    Cons

CEO believes that the company's major assets are his employees but yet salaries are below average as well as benefits. Being extremely profitable the company does not have a 401K match.

    Advice to Management

Be less vertical and old fashion.

    Pros

Decent Pay, no particular dress code, community volunteerism, discounts on merchandise, nothing much else to report. Modern facility, chair and desk provided.

    Cons

trying to run a world class service organization in their retail environment is virtually impossible. facility way too small, not enough storage, mean supervisors, tattletale environment promoted by the CEO

    Advice to Management

Move the service advisors off the retail counter! Perform pre-employment drug screens. Improve warranty processes, have some training for management personnell, eliminate the telltale environment of ratting out local operations to the CEO.

    Pros

Good amount of flexibility; nice co-workers; strong commission % was available to sales agents.

    Cons

Minimal product training; this wasn't really Camping World's fault.. there is just such an abundance and variety of products.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work! The incentives for the sales teams really seemed to work.

    Pros

I worked with some pretty cool people, ok benefits, starting pay could be better for what they have you do and perform

    Cons

A lot of people there have an attitude and this sense of entitlement because they have been there for awhile, only get a 30 min break for lunch, the worst thing will ''lay you off'' not based on your work performance but based on when you were hired oh and they wait till the end of your shift to do it. All in all the management is terrible there and a joke

    Advice to Management

find your closest interstate and walk into oncoming traffic camping world in dover fl the least you can do for laying off people with families at the end of the day karma comes around

    Pros

Mostly outstanding people, a few bad apples and brown nosers; but you will get that in most companies. I was fortunate to work with some excellent people and saw some run off mainly due to management egos. Flexible schedules are helpful. Good employee discounts. FINALLY realigned PTO schedule and raised starting wage to $10/hr. companywide.

    Cons

No raises, ever!! I worked with one lady with 15 years in the company with only 2 pay increases and those were given reluctantly. Awful communication from corporate, they seem clueless to what employees on the front line are facing. Constant upselling on parts, services, even items in the store. Push renewals, roadside assistance, product replacement that usually doesn't cover the problem. Too bad the PPP replacement plan is so bad because most of the merchandise is imported from China and is substandard. Bikes with a wimpy weight limit only written on the tires. Corporate planagrams are computer generated and usually don't work or fit into the shelving in the stores. Stopped letting the stores preview the incoming stock trucks to cut back on already overstocked merchandise. The starting wage raise did nothing for employees already above that rate. Constant management turnover, basically a "don't rock the boat or you're gone" attitude.

    Advice to Management

This could be an outstanding and viable company if the CEO would clean house first, and then run off and be "The Profit" or whatever will get cameras on you. With over 100 stores, IT department, corporate and distribution center employees you should be a good enough negotiator to leverage those numbers into better insurance at lower rates. Get one of your buddies to go "undercover" and find out the reality in your company; instead of buying into other companies and stocking their merchandise in your stores to make sales. The employee paid volunteer program is a good start, build on it.
