Pros
Very good pay and benefits
No expectation to work unpaid OT
Most employees are dedicated and hardworking
Communication with management is quite good
Cons
Employees are very high-maintenance and childish at times
Sense of entitlement among some workers is exceptionally frustrating
Many union reps are difficult to communicate effectively with
Unrealistic expectations during peak season
Pros
Pension, benefits, great on sunny days - if you're outside
Cons
Repitition, mind draining and no actual teamwork - upper management is not in touch with the how the work is done
Advice to Senior Management
Come down to the workfloor and work with the employees (say for a month) to see what the work is like and how it is actually done
Pros
Decent pay, though in a place like Calgary it doesn't pay much more than other available jobs. Also, I feel that most employees are treated equally, fairly and with respect.
Cons
Boring work!! (not so much for the letter carriers, but for people working in the plant, it gets VERY monotonous and dull.) I suggest people do it part time, but not as a full time "career", if they want to keep their brains stimulated.
