Pros
Not a good place to work. Other then the benefits and your some of the people, your better off soemwhere else.
Cons
Management does not respect employees, no career advancement, no employee recognition. They take adavantage of their employees and when they have no need for you they discard like an old shoe.
Advice to Senior Management
take the time to acknolwedge employee contributions, be honest with the employees. Stop using the employees to further company profits.
Pros
Good Pay and Benefits package, a lot of holiday time off, a lot of overtime available depending where you work.
Cons
Treated like crap and you're just a number, management has absolutely no respect for it's employees or it's customers at the same time.
Advice to Senior Management
They are always changing things around that don't need changing. If it isn't broke then don't fix it. Treat you're employees fairly. That's it for now.
Pros
Decent pay considering no educational requirements
Cons
Where do they find management here? It seems like they dredge them up from the filth of society!
Favouritism and Nepotism runs rampant here.
High stress environment
No compassion or proffessionalism from supervisors
Not given the tools neccessary to complete the job effieciently
Advice to Senior Management
Treat people like human beings! How about telling us that we're doing a good job once in awhile instead of always utilizing the "big stick" instead. Wasn't even allowed to leave and complete duties later in the day to attend the funeral of a good friend! I wasn't even asking for the day off!
Pros
The pay is great. The work is repetitive but fun, you get a sense of accomplishment after your shift.
Cons
The only way you can get into Canada Post is to start off as a casual (temp) call-in, where you get called at all hours of the night to come in to work a few hours. Twenty-five bucks an hour is great but it doesn't pay the bills when you only work a few days a month for two years.
Advice to Senior Management
Put a cap on how long you can be a temp. 2years with few hours doesn't pay the bills.
Pros
Employee safety is important, and adequate training is provided. There is good support offered from the Managers and Directors in moving mail.
Cons
The workload is very heavy - everything lands on the plate of the frontline management team. There is pressure in terms of deadlines, maintaining operational standards, and running the business within collective agreements
Advice to Senior Management
Hire competent people due to merit - not because they suck up to you!
Pros
Excellent pay and benefits including pension plan. Opportunity to transfer across country.
Cons
Very Political. Very poor communications. Increasing workload. Difficult to complete admin duties with very slow computers.
Advice to Senior Management
Job shadow front line supervisors.
Pros
The co-workers are nice. Its good exercise and you have to think. The pay is ok.
Cons
Some of the shifts are only 2 hours long which should be illegal. When your shift is long enough to allow for a break, its only 10 minutes. The contract is being negotiated and Canada Post is trying to do away with benefits like sick time. They no longer call in replacements for holidays consequently people have to work like dogs to keep up with everything.
Advice to Senior Management
I would never recommend Canada Post to someone looking for work. Although the $ per hour is ok, with the lousy 2 hour shifts the paycheck can be pretty dismal. I've worked for 30 years and never had a job that only gave a 10 minute coffee break, its not even enough time to wash your hands and eat an apple. Canada Post is definitely regressive in terms of respect for the employee.
Pros
Large company, varied opportunities across country
Cons
Crown Corporation/Government ties make for slower progress and more red tape.
Advice to Senior Management
Your management team has alot of experience, you should be listening more, or you will make mistakes.
Pros
canada post has good benfits wages and room for advancement it is in good locations all over canada and a chance to meet people.
Cons
the company has to be more creative in the letter mail division.it need to incorperate more products and sevvices and be more competive.
Advice to Senior Management
in order to groe the company we need to build on products and service. with on time delivery.and a focus on employees
Pros
Excellent training and development for management and executives. Very solid benefits and pension. Great professional colleagues and high degrees of collaboration.
Cons
Tough unions to deal with. Large and complex, getting approvals for initiatives is sometimes a quite lengthy process.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work.
