I have been working at Canada Post

Proscanada post has a good salary for the city in which I live in but in major centers its like minimum wage

Consthe management treats their staff like garbage, never get any appreciation for the work that is done,no x-mas parties, and management lies to workers on a regular basis!

Advice to Senior Managementtreat staff better, show some respect to workers, praise workers when its due!

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Big company, national career opportunities, very questionable job security.

Mail Service Courier (Former Employee)
Toronto, ON (Canada)

I worked at Canada Post full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGreat co-workers, pension scheme and benefits.

ConsBusiness is in decline and unprofitable. Future does not look bright at all. Extreme left-wing union without any business sense. Strike prone and confrontational.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive up on the Electronic Delivery Network -- there is no serious money to be there at all. The future is in parcel delivery and direct marketing. E-business for Canada Post is going nowhere fast.

Declining, sunset organization

Account Representative (Current Employee)
Ottawa, ON (Canada)

I have been working at Canada Post full-time for more than 10 years

ProsCompetetive salaries, benefits, pension. If you are already employed here with several years in and can get a total of 30 years in or 85 factor you will receive a pension.

ConsMismanaged, micromanaged basically affirmative action went wrong. People are not hired based on skills or education hence the need for micromanagement. Current business model is doomed to fail. The good opportunity is over at this company. If you start here now you will not get enough time in to obtain a pension as they will terminate you long before you become a long term liability.

Advice to Senior ManagementStreamline management by downsizing the number of people in management. Hire qualified people for the job as opposed to affirmative hiring.

ProsGood market salaries and benefits are just par for the course at Canada Post. Their package of monetary and non-monetary benefits sets them apart from others! It is this total package that makes Canada Post a great place to work. It is not just the good salaries, you can also enjoy what you do, work with great people and develop your skills.

ConsThe constant threat of losing your job.
