get some good ones
Pros
Good run at promotions, Great Salary package. Good people (for the most part) Stores are fresh and inviting, good selection and fair pricing.
Cons
Tied to the US Parent company to tightly.
NON Store sites are in bad shape - not inviting to work in or at.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it up, Staff always appreciate one on one's, town hall type OPEN discussion. Even when times are tough, keep the brave faces on. Motivate employee's!
Pros
Good pay in a clean environment
Cons
Too structured with little personality
Advice to Senior Management
Work on building people relationships (internal & external - remember we are retail)
Pros
The job is handy: just fill out a form and one simple simple interview and you will get it - especially when they are short-handed!
Cons
Every one works part time there: according to their HR manager, there is no full-time job there. Everything is based on seniority.
Advice to Senior Management
More importance should be laid on performance: since most jobs are unionlized, which means basic salary is fixed, there should be some performance-related reward system to better motivate employees to improve customer service.
Pros
Corporate Opportunities Specifically:
- First tier positions (analysts/buyers/category assistants) do not need much, if any overtime
- Opportunities to advance for skilled, hard working, long-term employees
- 10% off Corporate Brands discount (only Safeway branded products)
- Cheap, good food cafeteria
- Full sized cubicle walls (not open-air concept)
- Can get first tier corporate positions coming from store-level even without post-secondary education
Cons
- Benefits package is weak. 2 weeks vacation starting, 3 weeks @ 3 years. No flex days.
- Relatively lower pay for similar titles, not necessarily in same industry.
Pros
Safeway bravio awards are good.
Cons
SO many layers of managers which are irrelevant. There is no privacy for patient counselling or doing injections. Thepharmacy size is way too small, we keep bumpping into each other.
Advice to Senior Management
Make your DM's actually listen to the staff's concern.
Pros
Part time job easy to pick up
Experiences with some customer made you an expertise in abnormal psychology
Some customer are exceptionally kind b/c the way u treat them.
Cons
Not many hours for starter
Senior employee cruising through retirement, poor performance
Too demanding management
No work lif balance in management level
Poor public speaking skills for some Senior management
Poor reserve of future management personnel
Advice to Senior Management
Prepare to hit hard if u want to have high morale team
Learn to lead, stop offering band-aid solution
Stop assigning mission impossible
Improve speaking skills
Pros
Easy job, but tiring, and sometimes quite boring since you walk all the time. Simple workload, and friendly staff makes it good to work here.
Cons
Canada Safeway is a boring place to be unless you enjoy grocery shopping. You have to stand or walk quite a lot.
Pros
Very respectful, Well treated, reasonable wage
Cons
No Incentive, no communication with management.
