    Too much Micro managing, blanket policies put in place without thought or planning process. Stress levels are rediculous, upper management needs to learn how to treat people like people.

    Pros

    Interesting work, Promotion possibilities, money, pension however there is a cost you have to put in long hours and don't ask why just do it attitude. Very political organization, must be able to navigate with the players.

    Cons

    Toxic senior leader makes life hard for everyone within the group, micro manages never delegates and has convoluted processes that must be followed even for the simplistic activity or project.

    Have some integrity, do what you preach.

    Good pay for entry level, comprehensive training program.

    Cons

    The railroad has to keep going 24,7,365. Almost no work/life balance. Short staffed and run lean in all departments. Inexperienced workforce. Very political environment. Conference calls about conference calls to discuss conference calls.

    Good pay. Excellent co-workers. Most managers are decent, some not. I love the flexible hours and the time off. Good benefits and pension. Great employee discounts.

    Some managers try to be intimidating. Too much time away from home at times.

    Be more open to suggestions from employees. They are the ones that see what goes on and see how to improve things. Learn better people skills.
