I worked at Canadian Tire full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Profit sharing, opportunity to learn, environment is fun. Can be physical work but good work is rewarded. Mgmt is truly concerned for the staff.

    Cons

For some, the hours can be a little long, lots are open on holidays and Sundays, when it's busy it can be really busy.

  5. Too many team leads and managers were so worried about their own jobs, they couldn't stand up for what was right.

I worked at Canadian Tire full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great pay for full time, long-term employees.
    Good stock purchase plan.
    Good profit sharing.
I liked most all of my co-workers and found those same co-workers reliable, dependable and great to work with.
I liked helping out anyone across the organization that needed my help.

    Cons

It helps if you are a "yes" man.
If you suck up you'll be ok.
Too much power given to some of the supervisors.
My team lead was so inappropriate on so many levels and just a nasty piece of work.
My team lead was nasty to people who didn't even work in our department.
You used to be treated like family but now you are just a number.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the employees like people! Stop treating adults like children! While you invite the employees to attend the Dignity and Respect training, it's a double standard where some of the Team Leads and upper Management are concerned. Everything is about numbers and reporting up but you don't have to get that by bullying, haven't you figured out in all this time that the better you treat people the harder they will work for you? Don't preach dignity and respect until you walk the talk, otherwise it's just B.S.
