I have been working at Candlewood Suites full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very rewarding experience. I get to meet all sorts of people and learn how to handle all situations.

    Cons

My general was a nightmare and corporate rules were terrible.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your task instead of pushing it on the not so well paid little guys.

    Pros

Most people staying at the hotel were good.

    Cons

Staff was promised bonuses which were not received unless you were management. There was always a reason not to give a raise along with low pay. Management did nothing about complaints from employees and guests. Management was always taking extra long lunch hours, yet front desk staff could not and/or leave the premises, but it was okay for them all to include staff that was considered favorites. Front desk staff was required to work both the front desk, do laundry, along with many other housekeeping duties.

    Advice to Management

Upper management should have reprimand lower management when they were doing things wrong such as talking about staff in front of hotel guests and/or other staff, taking long lunch breaks etc. You can't expect an employee to follow management who is not doing what they say. Walk your talk. Pay bonuses when promised. Make realistic goals for staff to achieve to get compensated through some form of reward that was given. Compensate the hard workers and talk to employees who are having conflict with one another through conflict resolution skills.

    Pros

    Working with extended stay Guests

    Cons

Working with certain coworkers can be challenging

    Advice to Management

Even if some people loose hours, they should look at hiring some people who are looking for a couple days of work a week to fill holes.

    Pros

If you like customer service, excellent hotel to work in. Set up for extended stay business travelers and you really get to know long term guests. Another plus is IHG is a good chain and Candlewood does have a great value structure

    Cons

Limited service hotel so every employee has to pull extra weight and perform duties that wouldn't be part of their job at a different hotel brand.

    Advice to Management

Keep an eye on the quality of franchised hotels more often than at inspection. Randomly pay visits to find out how they function when they're not on best behavior.

I have been working at Candlewood Suites part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

They are more than willing to work with your schedule, which is a nice change for single parents. The other staff is helpful and the management is very pleasant.

    Cons

The company wants you to be extremely fast, clean the entire kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping area of the room within around forty minutes. That would not be bad if they did not make you dust, scrub pots, make the bed and refill all the supplies in that limited amount of time. A lot of work for very little pay.

    Advice to Management

$7.25 is not enough to feed a family, and it is not near enough to do that kind of work. Increase the pay.

    Pros

    Are some good employees there-dedicated

    Cons

NEVER reimburse you for expenses as they say. The management drinks at lunch and sleeps with clients. The most drama I have EVER experienced in a work environment in my life!

    Advice to Management

Hire qualified management and you will see your bottom line improve! Your current employees are too scared because of management's controlling ways to say anything!

I have been working at Candlewood Suites part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Work is pretty easy, hotel is "extended stay" so many customers are there for a long time.

    Cons

If a room is in bad condition (smell, damages, etc.) they still try to sell it, and you are the one that has to get the complaining from the customer.

    Advice to Management

Take a room out of service if there is a problem and actually invest some time into fixing it.
