I have been working at Candu Energy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Technical People are wonderful to work with. They are very knowledgeable.
Management and marketing have not seemed to do their job since they lose the ability to get a new work. While other company can get more project, the marketing people of this company said "the market is tough". The market always tougher for the company who has lost their ability to sell.

    Cons

Flexible time and good group of technical people to work with

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It will be nice if the management in this company will be more of the leader not just managers.

I worked at Candu Energy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

good benefits, vacation, health, no shifts

    Cons

    No challenging work
No chance to advance and job postngs are usally filled before posted (they know who they want)
Two unions and skill and ability lies within the union you belong to. A machiniest is a SPEA member and can sign for designs but a PSAC mamber who is trained as a CET in PSAC never can.,
Over managed and with too many dead wood managers.
Aecl was bad for keeping usless manages by Candu even after letting them go brings them back.
Retube Group is the worst group to work for.
Design prints a kept to old school layout because many can not understand current GD&T or refuse to change.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Break up Candu in small company and flatten management, get rid of any one that was a manager from AECL, Get rid of all or down to one union. Get HR to do their job

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Candu Energy full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Friendly people.
    - Friendly section heads and project managers.
    - Occasionally interesting jobs

    Cons

    - Rarely interesting work.
    - Too much paperwork (typical with the nuclear industry).
    - Poor tool and machine design development efficiency and/or results due to: (1) The under-utilization of good designers and CAD for somewhat complex mechanisms. (2) Lack of recognition and utilization of people's expertise. Political standing and educational status is more important than performance and experience. (3) Involving too many people in design review meetings, especially those with poor design experience. Some people's suggestions trump others who are better at mechanical design.
    - Inefficient processes in general.
    - Inefficient and poorly supported software systems.
    - Inefficient purchasing process.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
