Former Employee - Process Engineering COOP in Prince George, BC (Canada)

    Pros

    -Very friendly work environment
    -Relaxing atmosphere
    -Respects your personal commitment/issues
-Receptive for you to work on whatever projects you like
-People willing to help you if you know who to ask
    -Flexible deadlines

    Cons

-No proper training program or guidelines for coops
-You will continue to work on laboratory testing or other routine work (meaning no new learning opportunity) unless you take the initiative to find a project yourself to work on

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The coops are generally really enthusiastic about the work and learning about the industry. There should be a proper training program or at least some guidelines so Canfor itself can benefit from hiring these coops.

Current Employee - Instrumentation Technician in Prince George, BC (Canada)

    Pros

stable employment in a great area, many community programs for families in sports, recreation, schooling, etc.
Company gives at least a moderate effort to ensure safe working conditions for employees

    Cons

lack of appreciation for any extra done by hourly workers, a lack of common sense in hiring of staff and management with a total disregard for hourly workers that seek such positions

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

open up opportunities for workers to advance professionally and regularly discuss growth and career direction
