I have been working at Canlan Ice Sports part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Works well for students. Everybody is very nice and laid back. Both customers and other employees are cool to deal with. Discounts are good. They train employees well and care do care about them.

    Cons

There is a lot of corporate miscommunication. Sometimes corporate cannot relate to lower employees because they have never been in specific situations.

    Advice to Management

Collaborate better with all employees to understand the business better.

I worked at Canlan Ice Sports part-time

    Pros

flexible hours, easy to get your shifts covered if needed. Friendly coworkers in the different departments and relatively easy to transit to.

    Cons

you are really on-call and can get called for lots of last minute shifts (which you only take if you want to). Pay is not that great, but lets be honest... it's not like you're really doing so much work to warrant more than that.

    Advice to Management

be friendlier towards your part-time staff -at times we don't know who you are and may seem annoying or what not with all of our questions -bear with us.

I worked at Canlan Ice Sports full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A good starter/entry level job to gain experience

    Cons

Poor pay, poor management. Care more about the share holders then the employees. Skimp on repairs to save money and show profit to the share holders. The episode on "Undercover Boss Canada" was a publicity stunt and reflect no way at all on how they value their employees.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your staff then the share holders. You staff does the work not the share holders.

    Pros

    Perks if you play hockey

    Cons

Annoyances if you don't play hockey. Place smells like sweat, even in the offices. Customers are often rude, even violent when the disagree with a policy. Stressful.

    Advice to Management

Take the facility concerns more seriously. Improve the base customer service of existing facilites before you take on new ones.
