    Pros

I am working for the Irista and Lifecake products, and it is the best working environment I have ever been in. People here are lovely, love every aspect of my job and recommend anyone to join up, even as a contractor.

    Cons

Well there are no consas is, it has been a month since I joined.

  3. Lack of flexibility

I worked at Canon Europe full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good company name, was a decent place to work.

    Cons

Lack of flexibility for the modern word, including working hours and working from home arrangements (inconsistencies between departments). Not a forward thinking company. Poor location for European head office based due to travel issues and lack of flexibility.

    Advice to Management

More flexibility regarding hours and working from home

I have been working at Canon Europe full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There's a strong sense of culture, generally open, international and collaborative - certainly fewer egos and "ivory towers" than I have experienced in the past. Plenty of ambition and attempts to transform (3D printing, mixed reality etc): Recent acquisitions and transformation programs convey a sense that the company is evolving beyond it's legacy in cameras, copiers etc.

    Cons

I was made to feel very welcome but you still see the silos like you'd expect with any large international corporation; For a technology brand, perhaps also an higher degree of conservatism than others.

    Pros

Structure, People and transformation that keeps the knowledge fresh

    Cons

Too many managers that sometimes slow down processes with useless questions.

    Advice to Management

    Less overhead of management

I have been working at Canon Europe full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

a global recognised brand with quality products

    Cons

HR is a disaster, communication is meaningless, vision is absent and there is no feeling within the company of any need to change from the old days of box shifting and sales. The outside world has changed and sadly Canon is not recognising this and probably will not notice as usual until 2 or 3 years after every one else has.

I worked at Canon Europe (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Ability to move around in the company to develop your experiences and career Collaborative, friendly work environment

    Cons

Pay and recognition seems below average, I believe because they know lots of people would like to work for them

    Advice to Management

Recognise good performance and nurture people who are passionate about your products. I saw many people who were hugely passionate about Canon products become disillusioned by a few number crunchers in management who only thought short term and didn't care about the products or the longer term success of the company

I have been working at Canon Europe full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

None. Easy access to M25 to get away from office.

    Cons

I came to Canon with almost a decade of IT marketing experience, many awards and superb references from every company I've worked at. For some reason though, Canon saw fit to hire a local church events manager for a European marketing role. This person: 1. has no real marketing experience and 2. has no IT industry experience. Don't waste your time on this company in Europe. The interview process is rigged for totally unqualified friends of management.

    Advice to Management

Get a real and fair HR process or end up like Kodak very soon.

I worked at Canon Europe full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    - Opportunity to meet people with true dedication for the brand - if you make it to the director level you are basically sorted for life - the company will take care of you - quick job rotation is still possible but could change as European HQ is slimming fast - working in true European environment

    Cons

    - company cannot seem to grasp the technology changes of 21st century , in every aspect from product development to ICT structure - absolutely NO talent management unless you made it to director level (see Pro's), so lot of good people ending up leaving out of frustration - company culture is allergic to risk taking, thus a lot of blaming and "ass-covering" going around - decision process is an outer joke - not enough emphasis on hiring process - so difficult to bring in the people that will break this heavy mould

    Advice to Management

Advice to CEO : Focus on hiring the right talents that will make the company take the digital shift. Don't rely too much on your current organisation and senior management to make it happen though.

I worked at Canon Europe full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Big name, decent benefits, average salary

    Cons

No life balance. Working hours from 7:30 to 22:30 on average. Senior management poor both in terms of business and of soft skills. The culture there is not about work a lot but more about pretend to work a lot by doing no sense hours.

    Advice to Management

Review internal mechanism to check integrity of workers
