    Pros

Good compensation / bonus packages and sales business to business experience. Generally friendly environment to work in.

    Cons

Mediocre support system for products sold and price points were often undercut by competitors, making sales difficult.

I worked at Canon Solutions America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I can't think of one good pro for this company.

    Cons

Where do I begin? Management was top heavy. There were enough of them to make you fail. They were known to make something up even if they couldn't "find something" to get rid of good decent people. Then there were the Oce managers that came in. They would get rid of the Canon employees while the Canon managers would lay off the Oce employees. The Japanese don't have a clue what's going on here in the states.

    Advice to Management

    Take some management classes

I worked at Canon Solutions America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Excellent product line; name recognition; innovative;

    Cons

If you're Japanese - none, everything is peachy. If you're not Japanese, then it's a long list. A few examples: - no interactions or mingling between Japanese and non Japanese - too many silos - many upper management and executive meetings are bi-lingual (Japanese) since most of them are here for only 5 years and don't have command of the English language - key decisions are made by the Japanese without the consultation of non Japanese departments responsible - any idea or program that worked in Japan must work here in the US, otherwise it's the fault of those implementing or executing them (usually non Japanese) - no trust in non Japanese infra-structure - unreasonable service and sales quotas - Japanese are clueless about current market conditions and have no idea about how to drive them

    Advice to Management

Advice to Japanese Management - advise/guide, don't dictate; learn from non Japanese leaders. They've succeeded in the past and can attain new heights. Advice to non Japanese Management - keep your expectations low. After all, it is a Japanese company and their best interest may not coincide with yours. Smile, don't challenge, nod a lot and you'll get a few good years on your resume that may help you blossom elsewhere.

I worked at Canon Solutions America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

CSA has a very good medical plan and gives employees able holidays, other than that there is very little positive about Canon Solutions America.

    Cons

Employees are nothing more than tools, they have no value in their employees and that starts at the top in Melville. All they want is quick service calls with quantity the focus point and not caring the least about quality. You get out of your employees what you put into them. I have been much happier being a former employee, than when I was employed there.

    Advice to Management

Wake up, you can't continue to treat employees as you do, They'll leave as soon as they are able. Then all you have is a recycling of new employees until they too find out how you treat them

    Pros

Good conditions, good time off policies, decent benefits.

    Cons

There are a lot of ill prepared managers and directors. Very few leaders, mostly just dictatorship. Often times you are treated like the enemy.

    Advice to Management

Do a 360 review of your managers and directors. FORCE them to treat everyone with respect.

    Pros

The company has structure, leadership, and great benefits and compensation. They have excellent training and sharp people to work with. I love the environment that I work in.

    Cons

The only con I can see is that you need to be a self starter and highly motivated otherwise you may not do as well as others.

I worked at Canon Solutions America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Canon philosophy is one of loyalty that if you do your job, you never have to worry about getting downsized. Innovative and industry leading technology in a number of areas. Most executives I reported to were compassionate leaders

    Cons

Incredibly disjointed processes and workflows. That starts at the top, and is a downside to being such a large company. Compensation for sales is awful. Something to weigh against the quality of life you enjoy working for them.f you are looking to make a great income selling a lot, this might not be the place for you. It also seemed that the service on the hardware no matter where you went was below average. This was more prevalent outside the major metropolitan areas.

    Advice to Management

Bring your compensation model up, and rely on field insight to improve your processes and workflow. Hard to consistently make intelligent decisions sitting in a comfortable chair in New York
