I have been working at Canon UK full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The people make this job great team work mentality and lots of opportunity for development , competitive pay and family friendly

    Cons

Not every department within Canon ha same policies, it can't be one rule for one and one for another more consistency across the board is needed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward and recognition is always high on the list of wants, sometimes it would be nice to be more recognised for a job well done by management not just colleagues

They are a very supportive company who treat their employees as equals, not as underlings.

I have been working at Canon UK full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There is a huge amount of reward and recognition, staff incentives, bonuses, discount for the products we supply as well as a lot of different theme days, they support the local community by investing time and money in keeping parks maintained. They support charities every month as well as having free legal advice in case you need it, for any reason. They have a summer hours policy which makes a huge difference to the work/life balance.

    Cons

The salaries aren't quite up to a living wage for the area we live in, there are times when information isn't filtered down as quickly as it could be and the contacts for customer are always changing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If they could keep departments the same for a while, our customers would have more confidence in being able to reliably speak to one contact about any issues they have.

I have been working at Canon UK full-time

    Pros

Great brand name, good products, good people.

    Cons

Canon has lost it's way some what trying to change from a box shifter to a service provider. So much change and process makes doing business internally different, there are so many projects on the go that there is no money for the business. Comm packages have been continually reduced and targets up by 40% in the last 6 months. Canon doesn't quite know where it sits in the market place. No true global support infrastructure limits it's ability to mix with the likes of Xerox and HP and KM have over taken them. Lots of senior, experienced sales people have left in the wake of the Oce integration. No true Alliance proposition.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to basics, remember that this is sales led company not a marketing company. Remunerate your sales people for the business they write.

    Pros

Canon have an extensive range of industry leading products, allied to fantastic support services, if your good at creating your own virtual support teams and prepared to do the initial groundwork you'll have a very rewarding and successful career.

    Cons

As with many large businesses, Canon can at times be overly process driven, however if you take ownership of the project and lead, team members will assist to achieve the common goal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Streamline process to allow salespeople to have greater amount of customer facing time. Be less Woodhatch focussed.

I have been working at Canon UK

    Pros

good products. good office working conditions. renumeration abiove average

    Cons

excessive hours per week. excessive travel and poor expenses package. Home life compromised
Remuneration package not in best interest of customers

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

. learn more about the products you sell.Recognise undue presures on subordinates early to ensure remedial action taken (before they go sick with stress/depression). Do not set unrealistic targets to drive subordinates.(its very short term and ends in failure).Canon used to be a happy company with excellent customer relationships! Why has this changed? If the fish has gone bad, look at its head!
