I have been working at Capgemini Consulting full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Most of the people that work at Manager or below are solid knowledgeable resources. I've been very happy with my overall compensation.

    Cons

Strictly sales driven to move up and it shows in the type of resources that advance. Most resources at Sr Manager and above seem to lose all sense of the skillset that got them to that position. They push the resources below them to do sales which is frustrating when you feel you did an excellent job somewhere, but don't get recognition because your sales numbers were to low. The employee review process is almost non- existent. Your reviewer typically only spends 2 hrs with you a year. Training and certification is difficult to get approved.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget that technology built the Capgemini name. Create a training budget for every employee and encourage them to get certified and ultimately become the experts in their space. Create standard methodologies for each of your practices so the client experience is the same regardless of the resource. Create defined promotions paths with landing spots for specific types of resources.

I worked at Capgemini Consulting full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Good people to work with (for the most part) - Develop great basic work skills

    Cons

    - Abysmal leadership - Little to no development & growth - Always understaffed and over scoped on projects - Very conservative culture - You will get your promotion 3 years after you have earned it - Promotion is more about who you know than what you can do

    Advice to Management

Create one company and stop running as a federation of business units. Focus on people development. They are the only thing that matter in consulting. You hire a lot of smart MBA's but your culture creates an adverse selection situation.
