I worked at Capgemini full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Entrepreneurial approach in the management of the company.

    Cons

Expected to do a lot with no support and no budget. Culture is a shark tank. People are pitted against each other.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

All senior leadership should be fired. There is no direction, no vision and no strategy. It might be better if they just sold off the company in pieces and closed the doors.

This company isn't for the right fit for many people....

Current Employee - Manager in Chicago, IL

I have been working at Capgemini full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

-Good benefits, including those for domestics partners
    -Fully inclusive EEO policy

    Cons

    -Extensive travel
    -Difficult to achieve work/life balance
-Salary increases that come with promotions do not make up for the amount of additional work and responsibility that will be required with the new title.
-Only one type of career path; Up or Out. Does not have any career path for people that would like to just be an individual contributing SME.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Performance Management process is tedious, overly time consuming and ineffective for when 65% of the resources will only get a 3 rating. Too much emphasis is placed on the need to "toot your own horn".
-Year End roundtable process is no longer objective and fair, and HR doesn't hold people accountable for it, but just turns a blind eye. People Managers have very little say or power in the process, yet are made to believe they do. Account team pre-calibration roundtables are what really drives the ratings and really invalidates the need for true BU/SL ones.
-The manadate to cut costs has been taken way too far, and has caused you to not supply resources with adequate tools; laptops are being kept for 7+ years, corporate cell phones come without email access and data plans for your resources who are traveling 100% but are below the sr. manager level.
-Too much time and money is spent on continually "re-organizing" the group internally. Selling off our healthcare practice back in 2003 to fund and internal re-organization is one of the worst decisions ever made.
-Resources are not valued for their true efforts and length of service with the company, but instead are considered to be easily expendable at any time.

I have been working at Capgemini full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Capgemini provides a unique experience to let you opportunistically grow your career with result reward compensation. I have been with Capgemini for just over 4 years and have been actively promoted from Senior Consultant to Senior Manager. I feel that Capgemini does a good job of promoting and rewarding those who work hard and deliver results.

    Cons

The major cons to working for Capgemini continue to be work life balance. I find myself on the road nearly 100% of the time. It's also a difficult place to really un-plug and take a vacation. The last 2 vacations I have taken it was nearly impossible to disconnect , so it's easy to get burnt out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to work on employee diversity and inclusion.

    I worked at Capgemini

    Pros

Project opportunities have variety. There are sparks of positive leadership peppered throughout like hidden gems.

    Cons

The culture and leadership tactics are not focused on a "people first" mentality: Engagements are more important than the people involved in them. Just in time hiring is tactical and not strategic resulting in a narrow competency base with limited consulting "soft-skill" strength.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your people are the products you sell, they should be exalted and put on a pedestal and taken care of in every way possible. Instead they are marginalized, underdeveloped and treated as commodities. Change that.

    Pros

    Cons

A global company means that most operational interactions are done over the phone and not face to face. Time zones are tricky to coordinate becasue of the global model.
